I love the name Brodie if we have a baby girl (I know it is normally a male name but we like boyish names on girls).

Anyway, my question is, we have a surname very similar in sound think 'Codebie' (sounding although its nothing like this - just for reference if you say it as code-bie)

So does Brodie Codebie sound ridiculous or is it quite 'cute' and nice to say?

I think if you tried to say it three times very quickly, your tongue would tie in a knot.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/08/2017 14:47

Like a comedy name.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 03/08/2017 15:03

No no no! Sorry Grin

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/08/2017 15:06

It would be a lot for a little one, to get their tongue around.
I know a girl named Bryce, unisex name.

MrsXx4 · 03/08/2017 15:06

So far you all sound like my husband!! hahaha!

I'm getting totally tongue twisted. I keep saying Crodie Bodebie/Bodie Crodebie.

If you like boyish names for girl how about.
Riley Codebie
Alex Codebie
Frances Codebie
Hayden Codebie
I actually think Cody Codebie could work as you can't mix the letters around.
Luca Codebie (Might be too many c sounds, though)

MrsXx4 · 03/08/2017 15:23

If only my husband didn't have such an awkward surname!! I do quite like Frances though.

Frances is a fabulous name.😀

Lemondrop99 · 03/08/2017 16:27

Might sound cute on a kid but I don't think an adult would appreciate having a rhymey name like that

YouLookTiredDaddyPig · 03/08/2017 16:46

If anything it's a good reason not to give your daughter a boy's name!

MrsXx4 · 03/08/2017 17:16

I do know of a few other little girls called Brodie to be fair and I don't find the name very masculine its just that it rhymes with our surname that's the issue.

early30smum · 03/08/2017 17:38

I wouldn't do it. Frances is lovely and she could be Frankie for a nickname if you like a boyish name.

OrphanAccount · 03/08/2017 17:43

Brodie is fine but having names that rhyme is a no no unfortunately. Imagine her dealing with that as a self conscious teenager. Don't do it.

OSETmum · 03/08/2017 17:49

How about Brogan?

Scrumpernickel · 03/08/2017 17:50

Alliterative names are nice but rhyming names are a massive 'No' in my book.

Ghjklf · 03/08/2017 18:16

I think it sounds nice. Brodie is a cool name and I like it with your surname. It's unusual and cool

Imnotatypicalsausage · 03/08/2017 19:41

Don't mind alliterative but Brodie Codebie is a bit extreme and sounds like a character from a children's film to me!

glowwormsunite · 03/08/2017 21:22

No...I wouldn't.
Love the name (I have one!) but it's a boy's name...and although I do like alliterative names, rhymey names are a no go.

catsarenice · 04/08/2017 06:04

How about Bradie?

user1492287253 · 04/08/2017 06:14

No. I had a colleague who went by the name Ryan O'Brien. He did not enjoy having a rhyming name.

Popskipiekin · 04/08/2017 06:35

Nope you can't do it. There's a thread out there I started about Brodie as DH and I loved it but our surname is two syllable, starts with a B and ends -ie, so the similarities to Brodie itself are endless. People said it sounded like a cartoon name and they were right. We still love Brodie but I'm glad we didn't do that to our DC.
We also thought - could we call DC Broden and have Brodie as nn. Didn't work for us and perhaps is going too full-on boy for you?
What about Blake?

Twooter · 04/08/2017 06:40

I hate Francis! Sounds old-fashioned but not in a good way.

rizlett · 04/08/2017 06:56

I really like it - similar to Jack Black - no one kicks up a fuss about that.

AnneofGreenGablesAgain · 04/08/2017 06:59

No. I think people will laugh and you will get sick of the reaction quite quickly, as will she

Teambaby3 · 04/08/2017 07:09

I once taught a Bridie...would that be less rhymey?
As PP have said, alliteration is good, rhyming not so much.
