What do we think of Savannah? And how would you spell it?

I have s Savannah who is often called Vannah (less so now she's a teenager; she prefers the full name)

CatInTheMat · 31/07/2017 11:13

Love it, sadly exp didn't.

If it's good enough for royalty, it is good enough for us plebs Grin

Choccyhobnob · 31/07/2017 12:20

I know one toddler one. It's a nice enough name in itself she just gets shortened to Sav which makes me think of Savlon....

I love it! But it doesn't have a very nice meaning - wasteland or something similar?!? Well that was meaning when I last looked it up. I'm not huge carer of the meanings but that's pretty awful

MammieBear · 31/07/2017 17:54

Not my personal choice but that is me if you like it then go for it, I put it in the same mix with names like Skylar and Sienna

LorLorr2 · 31/07/2017 18:53

I love it! I get a different feel from it than posters above, I don't see it as a modern or overly trendy name perhaps because it reminds me of Susanna.

MyCalmX · 31/07/2017 19:06

I know a little girl called it and hear people shorten it to Sav which I think sounds horrible.

scrivette · 31/07/2017 21:25

I think it's lovely. I don't like Sav and would use the whole name myself.

Mrsknackered · 31/07/2017 21:30

I really like it. I know 3 little ones (Yorkshire) I didn't know any young ones in London.

OliviaStabler · 31/07/2017 21:34

Porn star name

ConstanceCraving · 01/08/2017 18:38

Awful. It's in the Mercedes and Chardonnay camp to me.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 01/08/2017 18:40

The only Savannah I know is called Vannah for short.

squoosh · 01/08/2017 19:40

It always amuses me that the Queen has a young relative called Savannah. I wonder if she had a little eyebrow raise when she first heard the name.

MaryWortleyMontagu · 01/08/2017 21:28

I've known two Savannahs (I'm not sure how else you can spell the name aside from the spelling of the town in Georgia). One was "savvie" the other definitely wasn't. However they both had a sister called sienna which seemed to me to be bizarre that the parents would deliberately name their children after the millers, but each to their own!

Mothervulva · 01/08/2017 22:02

Not keen.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 01/08/2017 22:49

I know a truly amazing savannah who had a two syllable surname that starts with the same letter and it just sounds fabulous and strong. This savannah is very self assured and confident I can't imagine her being called anything else

FfionFlorist · 02/08/2017 12:16

Not horrible but not great either. I much prefer Susannah.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 02/08/2017 14:47

Even though the queen has a DGGD named it, i still think it's of the Chardonnay, Chanel, Chelsea, Vienna type of name, if that's what you are going for then go for it...
