First off don't feel sad for me please. I am completely at peace with this.

I lost my only baby just after the 12 week scan. There will never be a baby but DH and I still say 'that's a nice name' if we see or hear something we like.
The nice thing is that it is complete fantasy so it doesn't matter.

At the moment we like Wyndham for a boy and Winter for a girl.

What are your fantasy names and what would you say if I was going for those names.

No one?

My friend wanted to call her now 18 year old Wednesday, she was talked out of it by the midwife and has never forgiven her.

I quite like Winter, but struggle with Wyndham as it's a rural town in Western Australia (where I live)!

In my fantasy life I'd like twin girls called Saskia and Cleo.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 26/07/2017 08:08

Hi OP, sorry for your loss. I like your fantasy names - mine would be Artemis for a girl, Conrad for a boy (I have one DD, Miranda).

Lobsterquadrille2 · 26/07/2017 08:10

Ah, I've never heard of Wyndham as a town - it reminds me of John, the author, partly why I like it!

KoalaDownUnder · 26/07/2017 08:26

I present...Wyndham. Population: 1,000. Distance from state's capital city: 1,400 miles. Grin

(It is kind of a cool name without that association, though.)

Thank you, Koala. I've learnt something new! Geography was never a strong point.

daimbar · 26/07/2017 08:54

I'm sorry for your loss OP that must have been tough.

Mine would be Crystal for a girl and Barney for a boy - neither of which I would actually name my children but I love both names.

MrsPringles · 26/07/2017 10:03

My hypothetical fictional daughter is called Alba

I bloody love that name Grin

SnickersWasAHorse · 26/07/2017 10:45

Wyndham is an old family name, and I love John Wyndham.

Wyndham is a park in Grantham (I always thought it got its name from a benefactor's surname). I think it works well as a first name.

I think of Winter as a boy's name (because of potting round in Victorian family tree when it was definitely that sex)

krakentoast · 26/07/2017 12:40

I really like Winter!

My fantasy names are Hero and Erasmus. Wouldn't ever use them but I think they're so cool.

BlondeGinger · 26/07/2017 12:48

Oooh in fantasy land I'd have two boys and two girls, named Jasper, Henry, Olive and Meredith.

BrokenBattleDroid · 26/07/2017 13:30

Indiana for me (boy or girl).

I'd never get it past DH in a million years!

Backhometothenorth · 26/07/2017 13:31

I have two girls and I love their names, but if I didn't struggle pronouncing my r's they would be Miriam and Greta.

SnickersWasAHorse · 26/07/2017 13:47

I love Meredith and Miriam.

I would have like Edith too and I could have claimed Enid as a family name too.

In my fantasy I have twin girls called Rowan and Willow! Sorry for your loss OP xx

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 26/07/2017 18:00

So sorry for your loss OP Flowers.

I had a dream the other night that I had a little girl called Snow. I don't suppose I'd ever get it approved by DH but I sort of love it!

BrokenBattleDroid Would you like to borrow my DH?! Indiana is his fantasy name for a boy or a girl!

Mollie85 · 26/07/2017 18:01

I know you're at peace, but Flowers anyway.

I can't have children but spend a lot of time thinking about baby names:

Seth
Phoebe / Lola

ButterflyOfFreedom · 26/07/2017 18:05

Cornelius & Dorothea

Amos & Roberta

  • love those names!
mamabeak · 26/07/2017 18:34

I am sorry for your loss. How painful.

Winter I like, but Wyndham less so due to the novels of the novelist by that name.

Flavia is a name I love for a girl, and long have loved it, as a not usuable really name, and Lindsay or Ninian for a boy.

Less not usuable names I like are

Lois, Mhairi, Cairaistiona (Christina), Vaila (Shetlandic), Rowan (pronounced row an, as in now/cow), Iona (it got somewhat overused here in the 00s), Maighread (nn Meggie), Mairsaili and Lileas (my current favourite favourite) for girls and
Patrick (Paidraig), Calum (got overused in the 00s here), Dàibhaidh, Magnus, Niall and Somhairle for boys.

squoosh · 26/07/2017 20:55

I quite like Winter actually. Wyndham reminds me too of John Wyndham and as a result I'm then reminded of my childhood fear of being murdered by a giant rhubarb. Plus those sinister Midwich Cuckooo kids.

Fantasy kids I'd called Sheba and Hallam. Today at least Grin

squoosh · 26/07/2017 20:56

Although now i see Sheba and Hallam written down I've gone off them a bit.

Fickle.

MrsCharlieD · 26/07/2017 21:02

Zephyr for a boy but my girl choices are more conservative, I love Elena and Serena.

BlueKarou · 26/07/2017 21:04

Sorry for your loss.

I was fortunate to be able to have one child but will almost certainly never have any more. My fantasy names are Cressida (NN Cress or Sid) and either Hayden or George.
