Really like the name amethyst am I crazy?

We are not expecting but TTC. Our two have pretty unique names (not wacky or unheard of, just different) we have our boys name picked out but girls I really like Athena and Amethyst. DP agrees with Athena but isn't sure on amethyst. I really prefer it over Athena and mum likes it (other family members have thought I was joking when I said it lol)

What do you think of the name?

Not quite so keen on Athena, but Amethyst is beautiful.

Amethyst is nice, I think, and can always be shortened to Amy.

Athena to me will always be that tennis-player-showing-her-arse poster.

I beg your pardon! It's a well known fact that Crystals are elegant and sophisticated. And any rumours that I have been seen performing an exotic dance at the Eager Beaver are all lies.

That was my favourite name when I was about 12, convinced my daughter would be called this.... she isn't

I don't like either, but Amethyst is far worse than Athena.

Amethyst also makes me think of Iggy Azalea, which I wouldn't say is a fantastic association.

I can't decide, on the one hand I like it ( and I have a child with Pearl as one of her names and I like Esmeralda and Opal ), but then I'm not complety convinced. I do like Athena though.

I think they are both lovely names! I think you need to have twin girls so that you can use them both!

Amethyst is a geat name. Also because of the Ordinary Princess. Its a book every child shoulf read IMO.

I know one little Amethyst - shortened to Ame but I presume pronounced Amy. I prefer Amy.
