Lily or Daisy

Help please.

I'm sort of swaying towards Daisy as there seems to be too many Lily-Mae's etc.

I don't know tho. Opinions please.

I think Lily works better for grown-up women, though I agree it's very popular at the moment.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 25/06/2017 20:38

I think they are both lovely names, I love flower names though!

RideOn · 25/06/2017 20:39

Lily I prefer

ColourfulOrangex · 25/06/2017 20:42

I know 6 Lily's in the infant side of my sons school (5 of these are Lily-Mays) and I only know one daisy who is in her late 20s so I prefer Daisy just because it is less popular

Sophronia · 25/06/2017 20:42

Not overly keen on either, but I agree that Lily works a bit better on a grown woman.

PurpleDaisies · 25/06/2017 20:43

Both lovely.

Have just realised I hardly ever say anything positive on here. Smile

Bobbybobbins · 25/06/2017 20:45

I like both too but agree that Lily is better when an adult.

coursedarlin · 25/06/2017 20:54

I know a daisy-mae whose sisters are lily-mae, poppy and blossom. Once she started with the flower theme she thought she might as well carry on! They are always called Days and Lil so it depends if you like the shortenings although both are popular round here

user1492287253 · 25/06/2017 20:54

my dneice changed her name from Daisy at 14. nuff said

DramaAlpaca · 25/06/2017 21:20

Neither are my style, but Lily is the nicer one of the two & like others have already said it works better on an adult.

Daisy is too twee & cutesy for me.

OwlsinTowls · 25/06/2017 21:21

Daisy. I do like both though

SuperBeagle · 25/06/2017 21:22

I have a Lily, so I choose that (although it's nowhere near as popular where I live as it is in the UK, and its popularity here is decreasing each year).

But I love Daisy. I think Daisy seems to be more divisive in real life though - Lily seems to be quite universally liked.

nuggetofchicken · 25/06/2017 21:24

Thank you for all the comments everyone!
They're really helpful.

Glad to see other opinions on both the names, both seem to be mostly good.

Thanks x

Lily.

utterchaos · 25/06/2017 21:39

Lily

SumAndSubstance · 26/06/2017 09:46

Lily. I can't cope with grown up Daisies. A doctor introduced herself to me recently as Daisy and I had to stifle an internal snigger.

Unadon · 26/06/2017 13:35

Lily

sleeponeday · 26/06/2017 13:44

Didn't Daisy use to be the nickname for Margaret? I don't know. It's lovely on a small child, but odd on an adult.

Lily is incredibly popular, and likely to date, sadly. I like Violet but we decided against it on similar grounds.

Unadon · 26/06/2017 13:50

Didn't Daisy use to be the nickname for Margaret?

I never knew that! How'd you derive Daisy from Margaret though?

ilovevenice · 26/06/2017 13:58

Marguerite is Daisy in French, hence Daisy being a shortening for Margaret.

Unadon · 26/06/2017 14:01

Ooh I see thanks! Learn something new everyday. ☺️

silkpyjamasallday · 26/06/2017 14:55

I'd go for Daisy, I know several adult Daisy's and I don't think it's a silly name on an adult at all. Not like Teddy or indeed lily-mae Envy

TomaszCanSchafernakerMeAnytime · 26/06/2017 16:03

They're both dull and overused, there's so many more nicer flower names if that's what you like.
I much prefer Lily though of the two.

MrsEricBana · 26/06/2017 16:41

I think Lily is just lovely but sadly it has now been overused. Don't let that put you off if you love it. Other less used flower names - Hebe, Violet, Iris, Flora, Fleur, (Hyacinth, Petunia, Myrtle 😉)

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 26/06/2017 16:59

I love both. I'd use Daisy if my last name sounded nice with it.
