Help please.

I'm sort of swaying towards Daisy as there seems to be too many Lily-Mae's etc.

I don't know tho. Opinions please.

Over 1/4 of the girls in my son's school year (secondary) are called Lily if that helps.

KoalaDownUnder · 27/06/2017 05:57

Daisy. Only because Lily (which is gorgeous) is a bit overused.

I work with children and have known hundreds over the years
Every year there is at least one Daisy, sometimes 2
I've only ever known one Lily, so I guess it depends where on the country you are

I work at a girls primary school.....there are no Lilys at the moment and 3 Daisys

I prefer Lily

Will name change after this but I am an adult Daisy. Doesn't seem to have held me back from professional success!

Mothervulva · 27/06/2017 08:14

Daisy. Loads of Lilys at the moment.

noodlebum · 27/06/2017 16:51

I like Lily the most (if you don't mind the massive popularity of it and it's variations).

daisypond · 27/06/2017 19:14

Daisy is short for Margaret, so I wouldn't use that as a name on its own.
Marguerite is French for daisy - that's the link. Daisy stands for "day's eye", as the flower looks like the sun. I like Margaret.

And Lily is short for Elizabeth, but that doesn't mean it can't be used as a name in its own right. Most people don't know that Lily is short for Elizabeth, just like most people don't realise Daisy is short for Margaret. That sort of naming tradition died out decades ago.
