Does it just make you think Parker Bowles?

Is the nickname cami awful? Milly? Mila?

I like it. It everyone else hates it!

I like it, but not nickname 'Cami' - Milly or Milla are OK though.

Camilla is one of the less annoying royals, so that association wouldn't bother me.

FurryDogMother · 24/06/2017 21:00

I went to school with a Camille - always thought it was a beautiful name.

BossWitch · 24/06/2017 21:00

I know a person who named her dd this. No one likes it. No one has dared say this though... she's a bit scary

Sycamorewindmills · 24/06/2017 21:02

I like it

Yika · 24/06/2017 21:05

I like it, I had a friend at primary school called Camilla, a sweet girl. It sounds a bit Swedish (that's a good thing). Also reminds me of camomile and fields of daisies.

Buttercup12233 · 24/06/2017 21:07

I like it!

keeppassingtheopenwindows1 · 24/06/2017 21:08

I do also like Camille. It's such a pretty name.

Yes I'm worried as no one else I have mentioned it to likes it! I also like Amelie- but worry that it doesn't sound half as beautiful in a northern accent as it does in French!

I prefer Camille (ca-meel) personally, but think Camilla is nice too :)

Piratesandpants · 24/06/2017 21:09

Beautiful! As is Camille

Namechange2837 · 24/06/2017 21:09

Oh sorry x post!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 24/06/2017 21:09

I'm not keen. It's just the sound I find unattractive for some reason. I do think of Parker-Bowles when I hear it, but meh. There are worse associations. That wouldn't put me off if I loved the name.

I really like Camille, as a pp suggested.

AdultHumanFemale · 24/06/2017 21:13

I like it lots. A Camilla can grow up to be anybody. And yes, as Yika says, lots of Swedish Camillas.

Tumblethumps · 24/06/2017 21:16

I think it's a beautiful name. I'm not even remotely a royalist but CPB isn't that bad that your daughter's beautiful name would make everyone think of an old lady rather than the young girl in front of them.

But then I know a 2yr old Donald and I certainly don't think of the eijit in the WH every time I see him.

I think unless you're calling your child, Adolf then they will become the name. Smile

Tumblethumps · 24/06/2017 21:17

Oh and I just like Cam or Cammy as a nn.

keeppassingtheopenwindows1 · 24/06/2017 21:19

Ah thank you- it's nice to know not everyone hates it! I really can't get it out of my mind!

Just to add; there are lots of Amelies under 7 around here. It has become reasonably popular. I know a 12yr old Amelie in DS2's year and it seemed far more unusual then. I think if you looked it up it would certainly be more popular than Camilla.

Tumblethumps · 24/06/2017 21:21

Sorry. My first post should read that your DDs beautiful name wouldn't make everyone think of an old lady.

Muumi3 · 24/06/2017 21:23

While I do think of Parker-Bowles, I think I'd get over that straight about if I met a Camilla.

Most likely nickname might be Cammy?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 24/06/2017 21:35

Don't like it. Not because of CPB.
Just don't like the sound of it

Mulch · 24/06/2017 21:45

It's a lovely name that hasn't been done death eg Lillie, isabel, Olivia ect also like the shortened camile

HoratioNightboy · 24/06/2017 22:00

I'm not a fan of the name, but yes, it does make me think of the present princess of Wales. That's not a bad thing though.

And yes, Cami is awful. Millie or Milla are fine but.

reuset · 24/06/2017 22:03

Love Camille, though agree it sounds best with French pronunciation/accent.

Camilla is nice enough. CPB maybe an afterthought, but I wouldn't let that out me off. Clarissa? Only vaguely similar, but.

MollyHuaCha · 24/06/2017 22:07

Camilla and Camille are both lovely. I've known one of each and always liked their names.

reuset · 24/06/2017 22:10

put, not out

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2017 23:14

I don't mind Camilla, but the nickname Cami makes me think of cami-knickers.
