Or any suggestions along similar lines?

It needs to be fairly easy to pronounce in Spain where we live, although not necessarily a Spanish name (as we aren't!)

Isla is a bit of a nono as it's an actual spanish word but it is pretty.

Sister to Bertie (Albert) which is why she can't be Alba which I love!

Got to be Madeleine (but not Madeline).

greendale17 · 23/06/2017 19:26

Madeline seems to be quite a popular name at the moment.

I say Harriet

Bitchfromhell · 23/06/2017 19:32

I love Lucia. In Spanish the pronunciation is Lu see ah which sounds lovely to me.

BewareOfTheToddler · 23/06/2017 19:34

If you like Isla, how about Ayla? Same pronunciation (I think) and easier for Spanish-speakers to pronounce. Of your other names, I like Madeline and Isobel best (though prefer Isabella myself Smile).

Ishbel.

Donostia · 23/06/2017 19:55

Lucia is nice but we have one in the family!

Yea suddenly madeline/leine has dominated this board - bit of a surprise given how low it is on the ONS list!!

Isobel is the spanish spelling, I like it as least frilly, but is it too popular?

Wish DH hadn't vetoed Clara..

Harriet is lovely, if not first name it'll
definitely be a middle. The only thing putting me off is the hoiky way the spanish pronounce the letter "h"

Isabel is the Spanish spelling; Isobel is the Scottish variant.

Agree Lucia is really nice.

MargotLovedTom1 · 23/06/2017 19:58

Aria?

MayhemAndRudderless · 23/06/2017 20:06

None of those names, especially Isla.

Just a few I like:

Amelia
Genna
Meena
Lucy-Ann

FraterculaArctica · 23/06/2017 20:09

Harriet is fab :-)

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 23/06/2017 20:13

Harriet.
Rosita or Pepita ! 😄

SuperBeagle · 23/06/2017 20:23

Madeline but I would pronounce that mad-eh-LINE to rhyme with wine.

Madeleine is different IMO

KatnissNeverdone · 23/06/2017 20:26

Matilda? Similar to Madeleine and Harriet.

pilates · 23/06/2017 20:29

I like all your names except Isla.

Eleanor but not Ellie
Rosa

Fallinggracefully · 23/06/2017 20:38

I think they are all nice but I think Madeline Harriet is beautiful.

Donostia · 23/06/2017 20:48

I love Matilda but can't stand Tilly! Just as you say pilates Eleanor is lovely but not Ellie. I also like Miranda but not Miri, Randy (urgh) or Mandy.

I don't mind Hattie or Maddie (but still prefer the full versions)

Ah yes, Isabel not Isobel, thank you!

mayhem of those five names you have mine and both my sisters names in your list!!

Twinkie1 · 23/06/2017 20:53

Harriet, it's an ace name, ours is 16 and she loves it.

Twinkie1 · 23/06/2017 20:54

She refused to answer to anything other than Harriet until a couple of years ago when she became Harry!

Bananacustardyum · 23/06/2017 21:00

I love Harriet. My favourite book when I was young was 'Harriet the Spy'!

MargotLovedTom1 · 23/06/2017 21:06

OK, I'd go for Isabel (as you're in Spain).

Muumi3 · 23/06/2017 21:09

Harriet. I love it, and she can be Harry, Hetty, or Hatty.

Has ONS released the 2016 data yet? Maddie et al might jump up
