Ebony best of the bunch for me, but it might be a bit ... I dunno, stereotypical if you are darkskinned. I went thru a phase of wishing I'd called DD Faith but now I think it's just too austere a name for me to have liked long-term.

Destiny is ok, but it's too loaded ... what Destiny? Whose Destiny? Destiny to do what?

Desiree is nice, though.

I am American & always thought if I hooked up with a black guy I'd love to call my daughter Kenya. Probably bad idea if neither of us had links to the country, but it's a very pretty name imho. Maybe not if one knows it just links to the Kenyatta family, I suppose.

StylishDuck · 18/06/2017 20:32

Where I'm from (Glasgow) Destiny was a name of a particularly dodgy nightclub that closed down a while back so it would always remind me of that... Not that it particularly matters what your DD's name reminds me of Grin FWIW I like Ebony.

StylishDuck · 18/06/2017 20:33

I love Faith.

importanceofhappiness · 18/06/2017 20:33

Destiny and Ebony are quite popular African American girls names. I wouldn't choose something else if one of these names are what you want just because they're not popular names in the country you live in. I personally prefer Destiny.

Scrumpernickel · 18/06/2017 20:36

I quite like Ebony. Destiny sounds like the name of a nightclub in a tacky resort. Faith is okay.

mummytobemaybe · 18/06/2017 20:43

Faith is lovely, go with that op

SumAndSubstance · 18/06/2017 20:47

I think Destiny and Ebony are names which are much more common in the USA than the UK and that probably affects how people here are likely to view them (i.e. we see them as quite American!). I don't think Faith has the same issue for some reason (and I really like it!). I wouldn't let that stop you from choosing any of them though as people will come to associate any of them with your lovely child rather than with 'America' anyway and there's nothing inherently wrong with any of them.

Lucked · 18/06/2017 20:53

I notice you like names that all have a meaning as a word rather than just a name.

Faith is the nicest but what about Verity or Melody as they sounds closer to Destiny/Ebony.

Hope is my favourite virtue name.

ABitOTT · 18/06/2017 22:31

I had a friend at school called Destiny. She had sisters with equally unusual names except one sister who was named Emma. Always felt a bit sorry for Emma.

I have eclectic taste in names & Destiny is a great name.

harderandharder2breathe · 18/06/2017 22:32

Faith is much nicer

user1487941567 · 18/06/2017 22:36

Sound like a member of a girl group. Like the dream girls or all saints. In fact it could be the name of a band from the 90's? Or a night club in Watford? {thinks back}

Either way. No.

ThanksMsMay · 18/06/2017 22:41

no to destiny. I'm sorry, but it does have strippery connotations to me. Sorry!

I'm not super keen on ebony but it's the best of the two. I like Faith though!

RandomlyGenerated · 18/06/2017 23:08

Faith is good - have you considered Honor?

Sophronia · 18/06/2017 23:09

Faith is quite nice.

flibberdee · 18/06/2017 23:21

How about Evoni? Beautiful name

Lemondrop99 · 19/06/2017 09:34

Faith is lovely

Ebony is not to my personally taste as I don't like the was it sounds (make me think of bones) BUT I think it's fine to use as a name if you like it

I'm really not keen on Destiny.

17caterpillars1mouse · 19/06/2017 10:06

I know a 6 year old Destiny - family have been on Jeremy Kyle

I know two Ebony's both have rather chavvy parents

I dislike both choice sorry and I think they will really date too

17caterpillars1mouse · 19/06/2017 10:06

Faith is a lovely name

CocoLoco87 · 19/06/2017 10:27

Faith Ebony is very pretty. Or Ebony Faith. I'm not keen on Destiny but I love Desiree

MammieBear · 19/06/2017 10:45

Destiny is actually a virtue name so you may like Grace, Hope, Charity? Amity is rarer and means good friend. Ebony is a nice name it has a nice sound to it as you say it you may like other dark related names like Lailah, Selane, Luna? Wink

Destiny10 · 19/06/2017 10:59

Unfortunately they're all taken by family.

OP posts:
MammieBear · 19/06/2017 11:15

Kiera, Mahogany, Sable they are some other dark related names Wink

SasBel · 19/06/2017 11:26

Another one saying Destiny is a stripper name!
Faith and Ebony are fine, dark in Scottish/Irish is Dorcha if that helps....
Adrianna is dark lady.
Seriously though, your baby, your choice of name.
Congratulations!
