Boy and girl name chosen I think!!

So I like names that can be shortened. Me and my dp both have named that are shortened.

The only boy name we have agreed on is Jaxson, Jax for short. We did like traditional spelling but thought it may get shortened to Jack which is my dp best friend so that spelling was a nono.

We also like for a girl Rosanna, Rose 🌹 or Roz for short.

Anyone have a Jaxson or Rosanna or want to tell me what they think of the names? Baby will have no middle name as dp has double barreled last name.

I told family and been positive so far except my step mum she HATES rosanna and insists she'll be called Rosie in their house Grin

I like Jackson and Roseanne personally.

00100001 · 07/06/2017 07:20

Your will forever be spelling your child's name of you spell them your way.

SoupDragon · 07/06/2017 07:28

The only one that would be misspelt is Jaxson. Which'it seems, autocorrects to Jason on an iPad (but that really isn't relevant!) :o

Jaxson is not to my taste but wouldn't it be dull (and confusing) if we all liked the same names?

Im not keen on the XS combo inthere actually. The s is unnecessary really.

Alittlepotofrosie · 07/06/2017 07:30

I prefer jaxon i don't think you need the s. I like rosanna shortened to rose. Roz is pretty awful.

blahthisistoohard · 07/06/2017 07:33

Am also really not keen on Jaxson but not everyone has to like the same names, Jackson is marginally better. What about Jamie, Jamison, or Joshua if you like J names?

Hate to agree with your MIL, but I would also call your girl Rosie as a nn, she can always shorten to Rose when a bit older.

GinIsIn · 07/06/2017 07:34

Jaxson is awful, sorry!

somewhereovertherain · 07/06/2017 07:37

Jaxson is awful what's wrong with Jackson.

Silverdream · 07/06/2017 07:40

Rosanna is very pretty and all the nick names are nice. Rosa , Rose , Anna. , Rosie Not sure I'd encourage Roz but that's personal taste.
I think I'd spell Jackson this way. He will have the nn pronounced jack however it's spelt.

Stumbleine · 07/06/2017 07:45

If you like 'Rox' how about Rosalind instead?

Stumbleine · 07/06/2017 07:46

Roz not Rox!

maitaimojito · 07/06/2017 07:54

Not a fan of Jaxson. The spelling just looks wrong. I don't think there's any need for the s if you want the x spelling but definitely prefer Jackson. The faddy spellings of names like this will probably date quite badly.

I like Roseanna but have a feeling it will get shortened and she will never use her full name.

Confuseddot · 07/06/2017 08:21

I don't like roz personally but I knew a rosanna and she was a roz!!! It would be rose from me and my dp hut I'm just thinking ahead when she could be in school etc.

And apologies it was supposed to be Jaxon mine autocorrectEd to Jaxson as that was another way we were possibly going to spell.

There is literally no other boys names we like apart form Jaxon and as above we don't like the spelling Jackson because we are worried it could be shortened to Jack. Which is dp best friends name.

Also me and my dp have always had to spell our names to people and over the phone. In my 22 years of living its never really been an issue tbh.

Thanks all Smile

Hi OP 😄
Jaxon is fine. I love Rosanna, Rose, Rosie. Roz is dreadful.

blahthisistoohard · 07/06/2017 10:12

If that's a concern OP I would consider avoiding Jaxon because I think it would always need be to spelled for people?

cherrydels · 07/06/2017 10:57

i like Jaxon it means gift from god i think! Rosanna is nice i prefer nickname rosie

Confuseddot · 07/06/2017 11:15

Blah that ISN'T an issue. Like my I said me and my partner both have longer name and we ALWAYS have to spell ours and it has never bothered us so wouldn't bother th child I doubt haha.

Sugar I agree I don't like roz I always called my friend Rose which I think is pretty. Plus I have always loved the titanic. Haha! X

Like Isobel/Isabel/Isabelle/Isabelle and all the varieties of Catherine?

brackengirl · 07/06/2017 11:20

I have a Rosanna who is 6 and have only ever had positive responses to her name. We call her by her full name and also use Rosie, I like both so this doesn't bother me at all. It's such a beautiful name.

chipsnmayo · 07/06/2017 11:23

Jaxon is lovely op, it's the name of my 7yo nephew, he's a great lad! His name also gets shorten to Jax which I much prefer to boring Jack.

Can't say I'm mad keen on Rosanna (not my cup of tea) but it's still a good name, however I do like Rosie as a nickname.

DramaAlpaca · 07/06/2017 11:38

I absolutely love Rosanna, it's one of my favourite names.

I'm not fond of Jaxon, but funnily enough I do like Jax.

Confuseddot · 07/06/2017 12:07

Thanks all. Drama I LOVE jax but I don't like named that can't be shortened. I like longer names that can

Both me and my OH are always called by our shortened names but I like the fact we both have longer names for more formal things maybe? I only ever get called full name by strangers or my mum when I was naughty when I was younger hahaha!

Fewling quite positive from your reactions of them. I really wish we liked more names but we don't. We did like hanna for a girl but I don't like it shortened to han.

Jaxon definitely better than Jaxson (which feels like a confused spelling), and Rosanna is just lovely.

Jax and Rosie are great nicknames too.

Sophronia · 07/06/2017 17:02

Rosanna is lovely, and so is Jackson, but the Jaxon spelling looks illiterate. I'd just use Jackson and not shorten it to Jack, or use Jax as a nn anyway.

Rockaby · 07/06/2017 18:30

I'm sure I saw one of your threads ages ago op! There was some reason why you had to have Jaxson instead of Jaxon, which I can't quite remember... something to do with pronunciation? Jaxon rhymes with klaxon, which is different to Jackson or something (not in my accent it isn't btw, I'm just trying to recall the thread)!

Anyway, since you asked for opinions, I don't like Jaxson (sorry), but tbf, I don't really like Jackson anyway, so it doesn't especially matter which way it's spelt. I also think of the word jacksie when I hear Jax, which is quite off-putting (again, sorry). I can't think of an alternative suggestion for you, as I suspect my taste in boy names must be so different to yours, it would probably be a total waste of time Smile!

I love Rosanna. I would shorten it to Rosie, Rose or Annie.

ThreeForAPound · 07/06/2017 18:33

Rosanna is lovely.

Jaxon is pretty awful, sorry.
