Boy and girl name chosen I think!!

So I like names that can be shortened. Me and my dp both have named that are shortened.

The only boy name we have agreed on is Jaxson, Jax for short. We did like traditional spelling but thought it may get shortened to Jack which is my dp best friend so that spelling was a nono.

We also like for a girl Rosanna, Rose 🌹 or Roz for short.

Anyone have a Jaxson or Rosanna or want to tell me what they think of the names? Baby will have no middle name as dp has double barreled last name.

I told family and been positive so far except my step mum she HATES rosanna and insists she'll be called Rosie in their house Grin

I like Rose it's timeless, I also love Rosie :) sorry I don't like Jaxon at all, Rose and Josh sound nice and in the same class if that makes sense.

And also rockaby I'm into lots of names. I LOVED caleb. But OH Hates it. I loved Frederick shortened to Freddie after my grandad. OH don't like it. All other good boy names I helped name emy nephews with Grin

Lemondrop99 · 07/06/2017 23:46

I once knew a boy called Dax, if that's any help?

thefamilynaom · 07/06/2017 23:48

I like the Jaxon spelling over Jaxson so I'm glad you'll use that one if you do go for that name. It's not my favourite though so what about Theodore (Teddy), Thaddaeus (Thad), or Elijah (Eli)?

Rosanna is pretty and Rose/Rosie is a cute nn. What about Roxanne/Roxanna with the nn Roxie/Rox?

Lemondrop99 · 07/06/2017 23:48

Also, just a thought on similar sounds to Jax

Dexter, shortened to Dex?

Confuseddot · 08/06/2017 07:08

Grin op!

Hmmmmmm how about Dashiell shortened to Dash? Or Jasper shortened to Jass?

Rockaby · 08/06/2017 12:20

Or Caspar / Cassius shortened to Cass?

Confuseddot · 08/06/2017 12:55

Basically I am doomed Grin let's hope its a girl and this is why I'm having so much trouble with boys names!

Do you know, if you are really really set on avoiding the shortening Jack then maybe start over - there is a little boy at our primary who is Jaxon and he's Jack to almost everyone I'm afraid - or a mix of Jack and Jax.

Jax just sounds so similar and Jack is so popular.

However - is it really so bad for him to be the same as DP best friend? Again - Jack is so common, it's hardly going to look as if you named him after the friend!

Iggy
Otis
Finn
Ned
Oz (Oscar)

lots of brilliant ones to think about!

Rockaby · 08/06/2017 14:41

If you like the letter X (based on horse names and proposed baby name Grin) then how about Xavier?

Confuseddot · 08/06/2017 15:11

I have a nephew named fin and not keen on the rest. Yep it would be awful as Jack is always round ours or were out with him so it would get confusing so we'd like to doffrientiate. We've been looking at boys names for 10 weeks now and agree on none except jaxon. Just gonna hope for a girl I think haha. And nope not bothered about letter x. Horses live for up to 30 years. They came to me with those names. I've never actually named a horse except for one we rescued from travelers we named him beau Grin
