The oldest ladies in my family are 'Edie, Flo and Violet' which really could be a sibset today and no one would blink an eyelid.

SnapCrackleOutOfIt · 12/05/2017 14:31

Barbara?

n0ne · 12/05/2017 14:41

I love these kinds of names. DD1 is one of the names on your list (I really hope it doesn't get popular!), and my favourite for DC2 if they turn out to be a girl is also in your list. In fact, the whole list is great except Patricia which isn't quite old enough to be vintage, imo.

NotMyPenguin · 12/05/2017 14:47

I would say that Edith and Vera are quite popular.

Phyllis, Gertrude, Priscilla, Doreen... not so much...

Brens13 · 12/05/2017 15:13

It took longer than I thought for my name to come up (page 3, their "worst" Grin. Once you realised that there were 10 Emmas in your class it was quite nice to have a different name!

Thatextrainch · 12/05/2017 15:14

I know a Betty, Dorothy (Dotty) and a couple of Adas. Come across a few Edie, Mabel and Sylvia/Sylvies since my dd was born a couple of years ago.

I love Stella but dp hates it because of the beer.

I was looking at the stats for Annette the other day (the) I love that name and barely any are registered these days.

I can't see Fanny or Myra ever being popular again but the 'reen' names (Irene/Maureen etc) probably will be. 'ee' names are extremely popular for girls at the moment and this bubble will eventually burst.

pieceofpurplesky · 12/05/2017 15:38

I have taught 4 on the original list in the last couple of years

CricketRuntAndRashers · 12/05/2017 15:45

Darleen, Léopoldine, Maxima, Philomena, Jacqueline.

TheScottishPlay · 12/05/2017 15:50

I feel your pain Troysmammy. I am an 'old lady' at 45. It's also DM's name and she certainly doesn't consider herself one at 77.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 12/05/2017 15:55

Gladys
Annette
Hazel
Joan/Jean
Joyce
Patricia

Catherinebee85 · 12/05/2017 16:17

I love Rita and Vera! 27 weeks pregnant with a girl but DP wouldn't entertain the idea!

SquedgieBeckenheim · 12/05/2017 16:23

DD2's name is on this thread! Obviously I love it and think it's very underused. We've had nothing but positive comments on her name.

GRW · 12/05/2017 16:28

Bertha, Gladys, Beryl and Marjorie are names that I can't see coming back anytime soon.

29Palms · 12/05/2017 16:31

I would have thought Marjorie might get a revival due to the Game Of Thrones character with a similar name (Margaery)

I think it's quite pretty. I had an aunt named Marjorie who was known as Marnie.

NennyNooNoo · 12/05/2017 16:36

Has anyone mentioned Phyllis yet?

I know a little Nora. Can't help thinking 'bloody Nora' every time I hear it. Don't know where that expression comes from.

ILookedintheWater · 12/05/2017 16:38

Both my children's first and middle names are on this thread Grin

Gingernaut · 12/05/2017 16:42

I know of a Winnie.

She was born last year. Confused

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 12/05/2017 16:45

If I had a DD she would be Millicent Linda or Millicent Jean. I really love the name Linda, it means pretty in Spanish.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 12/05/2017 16:54

We have Cornelia, Agatha, Kitty, Winnie and Edith at 'my' school

MuseumGardens · 12/05/2017 16:58

I think Eileen, Margery, Dorothy, Mary, Joan and Margaret will be back.

RestingBitch · 12/05/2017 17:02

As someone called ruth I only hope it doesn't make a comeback. It's bloody awful!

Wonder if today's babies will be calling their kids Trevor, Gary, Barry, Sharon etc.

MarvinKMooney · 12/05/2017 17:02

Round our way, I know little girls called Edith, Enid, Mavis, Dorothy, Betty and Dotty. No Sharons yet!

BikeRunSki · 12/05/2017 17:05

Edith and Dorothy are quite popular on these boards!

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 12/05/2017 17:06

What about Maud? No one is called Maud any more.

Surprised at Patricia being grouped with Sharon and Tracey. There's loads of Patricia's who are 90+.

nobeer · 12/05/2017 17:30

My 2yo DD has a vintage name and often plays with other little little girls who share names with 70s or 80s soap characters Grin
