Audrey is gorgeous.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 12/05/2017 11:49

What about Eunice?

Firenight · 12/05/2017 11:50

Blanche and Edith were both on my shortlist.

PenelopeFlintstone · 12/05/2017 11:51

I also know a Prudence.

loveka · 12/05/2017 11:51

Jean and Joan. Hilda.

Efferlunt · 12/05/2017 11:52

I know a little Winifred and an Edith.

Myrtle still to make a comeback.

silkpyjamasallday · 12/05/2017 11:53

My DD has an 'old lady name' but no one has mentioned it here yet, and I've never met one young or old. I like old fashioned names on little girls I know an Agatha and a Vera. So so much better than Ellie-Mae and it's ilk.

What about slightly less "old lady" but still haven't made a comeback... barbara, leslie, sue? :)

Ifkip · 12/05/2017 11:55

Is Elizabeth an 'old lady' name? I love it. That's what I would have called my last ds if he had been a dd.

regularbutpanickingabit · 12/05/2017 11:57

Muriel!

beepbeep · 12/05/2017 11:57

Margaret, Agnes, Nora, Edith & Mary are all quite popular round here.

StarHeartDiamond · 12/05/2017 11:57

Shirley - surprised this has gone off the radar, i think it's really sweet!
Barbara
Diane
Sheila
Lavinia

Love the name Bonnie. Would use it if I had the chance again! (1% contraception fail chance is all there is Smile)

Dozer · 12/05/2017 11:57

I really like Rosemary, Betty, Margaret and Dorothy.

I know of (unrelated) little girls named Maude, Doris and Elsie.

The ones that have -ina at the end of a male name.

Thomasina
Colina
Johnina

Nothing says "we wanted a boy" more than those names! I haven't met any under 80.

Spottyladybird · 12/05/2017 11:59

I know Ediths, a Connie, two Olives, two Margarets, two Bettys. Old lady name is strong around here!

Don't know any called Gladys, Gertrude or Barbara. Also Mary hasn't been given the comeback it deserves.

StarHeartDiamond · 12/05/2017 11:59

Oh and Enid! Grin no offence to any Enid's on the thread but I can't think why, out of all the girls names out there, anyone would pick that barring it being a meaningful family name.

Teddy1970 · 12/05/2017 12:00

I think some of the names mentioned will come back, I think the ones that possibly won't are: (but never say never)
Sharon
Tracey
Linda
Michelle
Kerry
Karen
Kevin
Wayne
Gary
Alan
No offence meant if anyone has these names btw, I just read somewhere that these names are in danger of dying out.

SuperBeagle · 12/05/2017 12:00

Barbara
Shirley
Sheila
Susan
Pamela
Beverly

StarHeartDiamond · 12/05/2017 12:03

Superbeagle - Pamela! Love it. So common as an auntie name. Auntie Pam, that and Auntie Sue Smile

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 12/05/2017 12:03

Can't say I've ever noticed anyone under 70 called Cornelia.

But maybe it's more popular for girls elsewhere in UK? (Am in the South Central region).

StarHeartDiamond · 12/05/2017 12:04

Peggy
Patsy - always loved Patsy. Such a friendly sounding name.
Nancy is another top fave. A combination of two childhood heroines - Nancy from Oliver Twist, and Nancy Drew.
