Hi, she is 5 weeks now and I'm seriously struggling... :(

We both like Madeleine (yay!) and also like Maddie, but we only like it with the NN Maddie, so is it a bad choice? She would be Maddie DTD, so introduced as Maddie (Maddie would be her "known as" name at school too, until old enough to decide obviously!) and we know she would most likely get Mads/Mad occasionally too and we can deal with that, but what do you think!?

I'm not keen on Madeline. It doesn't look right and seems too american

But it isn't. Grin

It was just a suggestion to the OP anyway, as a lot of people are mentioning Madeleine McCann (not that I think that should put her off the name).

I have a Madeleine, often shortened to Maddy.

Elegant, timeless and no - I don't think of Madeleine McCann.

I make a point of trying to call her Madeleine as I hate the name Madison and don't want people think that's her name because I'm a snob

Only 200/300 odd Madeleine's were registered in 2015, so not sure why previous posters think it's overused.

lovely name! I'm 35 weeks pregnant and set on it, just trying to decide between Madeline or Madeleine.

Madeline is the English spelling from keats and Tennyson - I prefer it but am worried people might think it's a typo!

I've got a Maddie (Madeleine). She's usually Mads though. I love her name and it fits her perfectly. It wasn't actually on our (long, long) list of names, but just seemed right.
