He will get teased being called Jesus. I have taught children who have had this as a middle name and as soon as the other children find out it made their lives awful.

Mistletoekids · 14/04/2017 18:30

Neither? 😬 Sorry!

M0nica · 14/04/2017 18:30

Not in Spain though!

Jesus

nancy75 · 14/04/2017 18:30

He would get bullied in the uk, probably be ok in Spain.
I'm not that keen on either name really, is there a reason you want something so religious?

WaitrosePigeon · 14/04/2017 18:31

2/10

Sadik · 14/04/2017 18:31

In Spain I don't see any issue with Jesus. I prefer Angel though myself, and I think it does work better if he decides to live in the UK in the future.

Floggingmolly · 14/04/2017 18:32

Neither. Even in Spain, there are other names.

user1492190294 · 14/04/2017 18:32

I come across lots of Angels. I have met 2 Jesuses... They're not that strange here.

We just liked them Smile

How is Jesus pronounced in Spain and what is Spanish for angel?

Sadik · 14/04/2017 18:33

It's not really any more religious than calling your child Joseph / Mary / Angela though, is it.

nancy75 · 14/04/2017 18:34

If I had to pick it would be Angel

ImperialBlether · 14/04/2017 18:34

Could you have Angelo or something similar?

Sadik · 14/04/2017 18:34

I think Angel is a fab name. And I have to say the blokes I've known called Jesus haven't been notably religious.

nancy75 · 14/04/2017 18:35

Jesus is like hay Zeus can't explain Angel, the g is soft

Sadik · 14/04/2017 18:35

If you go with Angel and move to the UK people will just think you're a Buffy fan . . .

NeonGod73 · 14/04/2017 18:36

The Spanish pronounce it like Hésús. It's a common name in the Latin Americas but British kids will take the Micky out of him.

UrsulaPandress · 14/04/2017 18:36

Or a Hardy fan.

thebakerwithboobs · 14/04/2017 18:40

Angel is a girl's name usually. Perhaps Angelo as previous poster has said? Jesus won't be pronounced the Spanish way here.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 14/04/2017 18:43

Angelo or Zeus.

MerryMarigold · 14/04/2017 18:46

I prefer Jehovah

DumbledoresApprentice · 14/04/2017 18:46

Angel pronounced ang-ell?
Jesus pronounced hey-zeus?

I personally prefer Angel. I work in secondary schools and IME name-based bullying is vanishingly rare and I've taught kids with some names that it would be easy to tease. I taught a boy once whose name was pronounced "anal"; in a class full of 14 year olds he was very much one of the "cool kids".

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/04/2017 18:54

Angel is a bit girlie.
And There's only one Jesus, surely

user1492190294 · 14/04/2017 18:54

Yes, but he won't be in the UK.

Angel is a boys name and there are lots of kids called Jesus!
Op do you have some English family? Which name can they pronounce the best? I couldn't stand years of a grandparent saying dcs name wrong!

Willow2017 · 14/04/2017 19:35

Really? Its a boys name, there are millions of boys with that name in the world, mainly Latin America, Mexico, Spain, USA etc. Its been around far longer than the Jesus you are referring to and in many forms.
