They are Latino names. Angel is 'an-hel. Anyone who watched Dexter, the female chief pronounced it properly. Loads of my Portugese family are called Jesus. I think I prefer Angel out of those 2.

Met a man in Peru called Jesus Elvis.
Best. Name. Ever

peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/04/2017 20:12

What's wrong with good old Gabriel?

Sophronia · 14/04/2017 23:28

I like Angel

Kennethwasmyfriend · 14/04/2017 23:32

Chances are someone going to an English school may well want to work or study in an English speaking country later on. Where his name will be the first thing anyone notices about him.

FunkinEll · 15/04/2017 00:28

Jesus as in Hey-Zeus?

That's what I'd got for. We used to have a male Midwife on the maternity ward called Jesus (pronounced hey-Zeus).

Juanca · 15/04/2017 00:40

I'm in south America and there are loads of each name here, although Jesus is a bit old fashioned. So I'd go with Angel.

FreeNiki · 15/04/2017 01:28

Jesus won't be pronounced the Spanish way here.

Says who? I know a Spanish Jorge. He wont accept George pronunciation and insists on hor-hay.

I know a German Jakob who insists on Yakob not English Jacob.

You dont have to accept people pronouncing a non English name wrong.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/04/2017 01:33

It is a tiny bit useless to ask opinions of a UK parenting site about names to be used to another country. I lived in Italy so know that Angelo and Jesu aren't unusual. But I would only know which is preferable in Spain if I lived in Spain.

Angel will always be David Boreanaz to me!

sailawaywithme · 15/04/2017 01:39

Angel is pronounced An-hell, Jesus is pronounced Hay-Zoos. I live in the US and it's very common here among the Latino community, but if you're in, say, West Bromwich, your son may have a harder time!

Juanca · 15/04/2017 01:44

Angel will always be David Boreanaz to me!

David Zayas for me. Yum!

ImagineBeingThatPassionate · 15/04/2017 01:45

Angel

OkPedro · 15/04/2017 01:51

If you don't live in the U.K. or Ireland, does it even matter?
I have met a Jesus but he pronounced it Hay zues

Mrsknackered · 15/04/2017 10:17

Angel. I like it a lot and it is a boys name.
In Tess of the D'ubervilles, i believe there is an Angel.

reuset · 15/04/2017 11:17

Angel.

Great name. Hasn't anyone heard of Angel Corella? Spanish of course.

Fauchelevent · 15/04/2017 11:21

Considering she's in Spain it doesn't matter how it will work over here!

Angel is lovely. I prefer it to Angelo

Fauchelevent · 15/04/2017 11:23

I also think in the British school most people are worldly enough to know it is pronounced Hay-zoos

originalbiglymavis · 15/04/2017 11:30

Is the op Spanish? Why the English school - is the child part Spanish/part Brit? Are there British relatives/trips to the UK to consider?

Is she looking for a name that works across both nations?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 15/04/2017 11:36

Blimey, I only worked in Spain for 8 months and met 3 men called Jesus, it's really not uncommon. None were remotely religious either. Presumably the British kids at the English school in Spain will also be growing up gearing Spanish names so I don't see the problem. It's a great name OP.

RebelRogue · 15/04/2017 11:50

Angel(An-hel) If i really really had to pick one of them, but not a fan of either. There are plenty of beautiful Spanish names.

Ceto · 15/04/2017 11:53

Neither

Rockaby · 15/04/2017 12:25

Angel by miles for me. I actually like the religious link, but I don't like the sound of Jesus (assuming it will be like hey-zooss).

I think Angel is lovely.

buttercup54321 · 16/04/2017 00:16

NOOOOOOO. Not in the Uk anyway. Kid will be teased

OccasionalNachos · 16/04/2017 00:25

OP & the child concerned are not in the UK though
