Hiya,

Our son was born on the 1st. We had decided on Hayden but people have now told us "please don't" and "oh, dont" and just general comments like that really.

It's making me really sad :-(

Not at all it's a great name honestly! Wtf people are so dam rude.

BasicBetty · 11/04/2017 13:26

Nothing wrong with it. Stick to your guns and congratulations!

Choccyhobnob · 11/04/2017 14:44

Nothing wrong with it! Don't class it the same as Jayden or Kayden. Im also shocked people were outright rude AFTER he'd been born! My friend gave her DS a name I think is awful and is about to do the same with her second but I'd never say anything to her! lol

passmethewineplease · 11/04/2017 14:48

It's a unisex name isn't it? (not that that matters) I have a nephew called Hayden and there's a girl in my daughters class Hayden as well.

I don't think it's on par with Jayden, Kayden et al.

YoungYolandaYorgensen39 · 11/04/2017 14:49

Use it and tell people to shut up with their hurtful remarks.

I like it.

MaisyPops · 11/04/2017 17:34

I dont like the name (its been tainted by the jaden, kaden etc) BUT I would never tell anyone I dont like their childs name.

People who do that are just rude.

MagnumAddict · 11/04/2017 20:07

Er, maisypops you just did Grin

MaisyPops · 11/04/2017 21:37

Yeah i realised that after I posted it reads like thag. Grin
I meant in real life e.g. if a friend said here's baby smoshy I would never say "eugh i hate the name smoshy. Its so...."

I dont like the name hayden (and talk on baby name threafs about names i like/dont like) But if a friend named their child it then it wouldnt make a difference to me, id still think they were adorable because they are my friends kid.

MagnumAddict · 11/04/2017 22:08

I know what you meant, only teasing Wink

I'm the same, you can be honest here and it's fair game if people ask for opinions but I'm always shocked people are so blunt in rl about baby names, especially when the decision is made!

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 12/04/2017 13:57

An immediate family member of mine is a Hayden (spelt like that too, some drop the 'e' 'Haydn' which I don't like so much) and he is the sweetest, kindest, soft-hearted person I know. For that reason alone, I am liable to be biased to love it, but I do honestly think it's a lovely name!

Congratulations Flowers

MollyHuaCha · 12/04/2017 14:20

Congratulations on Hayden's birth. Get yourselves to the registry office Smile

MaisyPops · 12/04/2017 18:20

Haydn with no e is pronounced hi-den as in the composer.
Totally different name so itd be interesting the people you know are using it as hay-den.

Susiethetortoiseshellcat · 12/04/2017 18:41

I love it. Such a classic but slightly different name. Did you go for it in the end? People will always have an opinion but it's a lovely name.

JuniePW · 14/04/2017 09:16

No, I really like Hayden Smile use it!
