Hiya,

Our son was born on the 1st. We had decided on Hayden but people have now told us "please don't" and "oh, dont" and just general comments like that really.

It's making me really sad :-(

I've taught two wonderful Haydens (and one rotter) and I really like the name. OP he's your baby and it's unbelievably rude that people would express a negative opinion about something that you've chosen for him. Sod them!

buttercup54321 · 07/04/2017 21:14

Its very nice.Such rude people.

Sophronia · 07/04/2017 22:23

It's a fine name.

DramaAlpaca · 07/04/2017 23:04

It's fine. If you like it, go with it.

hopsalong · 07/04/2017 23:08

I think it's a great name. Would be on my list but DH doesn't like it along with almost every other name.

Astro55 · 07/04/2017 23:10

Try shouting it out in Asda .... you get a feel for names that way

Buntysoven · 08/04/2017 00:53

There are some truly horrible people about. Hayden is a nice name. A friend is planning to call her little boy a truly horrific name in my opinion but it's up to her, we'll get to love it as we'll love her baby and it's her choice!!!

SpikeGilesSandwich · 08/04/2017 03:32

How rude! My standard response to any baby name is, "That's lovely!" whatever I really think. I might go home and tell DH if I think a name is awful but that's it. I'm sure plenty of people aren't keen on our choice but they smile and say it's lovely to my face which I appreciate. My advice is stick to your name and change your friends.

rollonthesummer · 08/04/2017 03:35

I don't personally like it-it's in the Kayden, Jayden, Aiden, Kaiden, Jaiden camp for me. I would never say that to someone who wasn't asking my opinion though!

iogo · 08/04/2017 03:37

It's a great name. One of my best friends' son is called Hayden. He's 5 and the cheekiest, loveliest, most fun bundle of joy.

Queensparkles · 08/04/2017 14:38

Congrats Grin

That's shocking that ppl are being so rude about your sons name AFTER he is born, it's one thing to make a comment while the mother is pregnant but to be so rude when the baby has actually arrived is bang out! Get them told Angry

I think it's a lovely name! Nothing wrong with it at all, all the 'en ending' names are nice eg Caiden, Aiden, Jayden etc! Hayden is just a bit less common which is a good thing! Flowers

SnookieSnooks · 08/04/2017 14:40

Ignore everyone else's opinions! It is a perfectly reasonable name.... it's not like you are calling him Zowie or Brooklyn.

goodpiemissedthechips · 08/04/2017 14:42

I prefer Haydn personally (knew a few growing up) but I really don't see the issue. Slightly dated perhaps? But it's a lovely name.

SingingSilver · 08/04/2017 17:38

If you like it - use it! People will associate it with your dc and his personality above anything else, don't worry. But it is better to simply tell people the name instead of asking. Everyone has a different opinion!

squoosh · 08/04/2017 19:03

It's fine OP. Some people are obsessed with names ending in an ayden sound. Zzzzz.

Stick to your guns and congrats on your new arrival 👶🏼

squoosh · 08/04/2017 19:06

'I'd axe the people saying this, not the name.'

Just to clarify, would you take an axe to them or do you mean you'd cut them from your life? 😉

TSSDNCOP · 08/04/2017 19:11

It is my son's middle name. It suits him and his entire name beautifully, especially as his first name is Top 3 of the Mumsnet common as muck list Grin

PuppyMonkey · 08/04/2017 19:13

I know someone called Hayden although for years I thought he was Aidan as that's how he pronounces it. (Nottingham)

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 09/04/2017 00:03

Its not my cup of tea, but. That in no way makes it an awful names.
Congratulations. Enjoy those new born snuggles

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 09/04/2017 20:57

I like it. It was a great uncle's name and he'd be over 100 now, so I do t think it's like Jayden etc.

Kazzawazza69 · 09/04/2017 21:06

I like it a lot. Much more classy than the likes of Kayden/Jayden. And I agree with others that's it's incredibly rude of people to make such comments about your baby's name. Stick to your guns!

seven201 · 09/04/2017 21:08

How rude of them! Angry

Yika · 09/04/2017 23:04

Hayden is a lovely name, ignore the rude comments.

2014newme · 09/04/2017 23:07

I thought it was a girls name, as pp said hayden panatierre. (spelling of surname may be wrong!)

Aidan is nice?

FreeNiki · 10/04/2017 23:25

Nothing wrong with Hayden. Go for it.
