Have you googled archer the adult spy comedy? That is what popped into my head straight away. Have no idea if anyone would know/care but I couldn't use it for that reason.

MamaLazarou · 29/03/2017 15:52

My first association is 'Jeffrey' or 'The Archers'.

Or someone from Loughborough pronouncing 'Archie'.

Jooni · 29/03/2017 15:58

It's nice. He'd probably become yet another Archie though so you'd need to like that too.

Reow · 29/03/2017 16:02

Ha! Have you seen the show? www.imdb.com/title/tt1486217/

Marcipex · 29/03/2017 16:07

I like it.

AddictedtoSnickers · 29/03/2017 16:10

I think it's popular in Australia. I like it.

MissWimpyDimple · 29/03/2017 16:11

Not keen on surnames as first names but as they go it's ok

nursebickypegs · 29/03/2017 16:15

Love Archer and it's a great TV spy.

cece · 29/03/2017 16:26

Awful

Giraffesaretootall · 29/03/2017 16:49

I don't like it. It's a surname imo.

Ontopofthesunset · 29/03/2017 16:51

I see it as a surname and a way to give a child the shortening Archie without calling him Archibald. Also (possibly showing my age) Peach Schnapps.

ClaryBeanHorshAndMe · 29/03/2017 16:51

Sure, it's nice. :)!

it's in the same category as Hunter imo. :) It's really nice.

Mrsknackered · 29/03/2017 16:55

I like it, I didn't even immediately think of it being a surname.
Did think of the Archers but that's not bad - is it?

ClaryBeanHorshAndMe · 29/03/2017 16:56

However, it's a mormon name to me personally, not sure why. Sorry.

Sallygoroundthemoon · 29/03/2017 17:00

Makes me think of Archers peach schnapps too. It's OK but very American, like Carson or Harrison.

Pemba · 29/03/2017 17:02

Don't like it - it's in the same category as Hunter, Fisher, Carter etc., surnames that very clearly come from occupations that people still do today, so sounds silly as a first name, IMO.

Why not Archie?

Bitchfromhell · 29/03/2017 17:03

It's not my favourite, but I certainly wouldn't judge anyone else for using it. It actually sounds quite middle class to me. We live in Range Rover land which seems to be entirely populated by tiny Saylors, Pipers and Hunters.

PodgeBod · 29/03/2017 17:04

I like it, I think it's sweet

Ontopofthesunset · 29/03/2017 17:22

I suppose I just think of an archer being someone who shoots someone with a bow and arrow, like at Agincourt. So it seems rather violent to me, like Hunter. I also (showing my age again) think of Jeffrey Archer. And the meaning of the word 'arch' in the sense of 'knowing, superior, affectedly playful' which isn't great.

But I don't hate it.

Cosmicglitterpug · 29/03/2017 17:23

Not keen.

BorisJohnsonsHair · 29/03/2017 17:24

Yuk.

Saucery · 29/03/2017 17:27

I like it.
