I love Rose and love Belle, but I must say I think Rosabelle sounds a bit made up.

LadyMetroland · 25/03/2017 20:33

OTT

And she'll have to explain it to everyone she ever encounters for the rest of time

Rosa is nice though and so is Bella (although not keen on just Belle)

OpalIridescence · 25/03/2017 20:36

I like it, both nicknames are lovely.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/03/2017 20:36

Love Rosabelle, prefer Rosabel, not as frilly.

MaisyPops · 25/03/2017 20:37

It sounds made up to me. Pretty but made up.

Bringmewineandcake · 25/03/2017 20:40

There's a Rosabell Laurenti Sellers who is in Game of Thrones and Mia and Me on Netflix.
I like it, think it's pretty.

Rockaby · 25/03/2017 20:59

I'm not keen.

I know it's a 'proper' / traditional name, but the combination of the floral sound at the start and the belle at the end somehow makes me find it a little OTT and Disney-ish.

I've seen it discussed on here before and loads of people think it sounds made up. I imagine people might think the same thing IRL, so you could end up explaining it all the time which could be a bit irksome.

DramaAlpaca · 25/03/2017 21:01

It's a bit fussy & frilly.

Rosabel is much nicer.

SookiesSocks · 25/03/2017 21:03

Sorry sounds like a forgotten Disney princess.
Unless that is what you wanted then go for it Grin

SerialReJoiner · 25/03/2017 21:06

My DD is Rosabel, so yes, I like it. ;) She goes by Rosie most of the time.

It is on the frillier side, and the Victorians did seem to make it up, but hey ho. I don't think those are the worst things in the world.

Sophronia · 25/03/2017 21:27

I think it's nicer spelled Rosabel

Rockaby · 25/03/2017 21:28

YY Rosabel is definitely a nicer spelling imo.

frums · 25/03/2017 21:31

It's a bit too OTT girlie, frilly for me but that's just a matter of individual taste.

HoratioNightboy · 25/03/2017 22:01

I've always had a liking for this name, and I don't generally go for Rose-type names at all. It's definitely older than Victorian though - back to 1652 at least.

namechange20050 · 25/03/2017 22:04

I know a rosabella and I think it's a lovely name.

HeddaGarbled · 25/03/2017 22:08

I'm not keen TBH: a bit overly twee & girly. Imagine her as an adult professional having to introduce herself to new clients or fellow professionals. She'll have to fight extra hard to be taken seriously.

Ojoj1974 · 25/03/2017 22:10

It's a big no from me I'm afraid. It conjures up Disney, gypsy and OTT. Sorry Blush

msgrinch · 25/03/2017 22:12

Awful. Just awful but that's just my taste. Sounds made up, cheap perfume name, tacky and frilly.

NoCapes · 25/03/2017 22:17

I think it sounds like a pub
"Meet you in the Rosabelle at 8 pal, mines a cider"

Ohyesiam · 25/03/2017 22:20

It's very frilly, but for the right little girl it would work. Ringlets ( possibly ginger), and a rosebud mouth spring to mind.

MitzyLeFrouf · 25/03/2017 23:13

I agree with Ohyesiam. I can picture this name on a young Bonnie Langford type, frilly frock, tap dancing legs and ringlets flying.

It's a bit much for me.

ToffeeForEveryone · 25/03/2017 23:23

Prefer Rosabel to Rosabelle

But yes, it's pretty but not the most serious adult name.

Rednailsandnaeknickers · 25/03/2017 23:50

Sounds like the type of twee name given to a doll or brand of glittery tat.

Rosa on its own is a lovely name tho. Give her Belle as a seperate middle name so you can run them together if you want but she's not mortified as a teenager/adult by her cabbage patch name?

MitzyLeFrouf · 25/03/2017 23:55

'Cabbage patch name'

😂😂

Maybe cabbage patch and care bear names will be the next big thing. Goodbye Florence and Hugo, hello Hug a Lot and Trixiebelle

crapfatbanana · 26/03/2017 00:03

I like Rose or Rosa and I like Belle. Not together though. It's a bit American Wild West or Deep South for me. I picture a buxom dancing girl with a frilly dress in a saloon bar or a homely 'apple pie' type 'momma', fixing a pitcher of lemonade to serve on the veranda.
