Which spelling do you like?
Rebecca is more common whereas Rebekah is the Hebrew biblical way

I'm a Rebecca and still have to spell it out because people always think it's 2 b's and 1 c Confused

I don't like the biblical spelling.

geordiedench · 19/03/2017 09:17

The first. The second always reminds me of Rebekah Wade, which isn't a good association.

DevelopingDetritus · 19/03/2017 09:19

The first one. For some reason I feel the "k" is rather aggressive.

PrincessPlod · 19/03/2017 09:33

Rebecca is nice

indigo13 · 19/03/2017 11:09

Rebekah does look spikey and aggressive! I've always thought that

justanotheryoungmother · 19/03/2017 12:13

I prefer RebekahSmile

emilybrontescorset · 19/03/2017 12:15

Does anyone know how the spelling got changed?

(Missed point of the thread).

ChubbyMummy12 · 19/03/2017 12:20

Rebecca

NotYoda · 19/03/2017 15:56

Despite Rebekah Wade, I do prefer that spelling. I don't know why.

Rebecca is also lovely. I don't think you can go wrong really. 'Rebecca' is my favourite book (and she was a cow)

BAR91 · 19/03/2017 16:14

Rebekka is another spelling somewhere in the middle of those two. It's used in some of the Nordic countries :)

Beckyb1 · 19/03/2017 16:19

I'm Rebecca. Would hate the other way. It was hard learning to spell just that when I was little let alone with a kah!

MiriAmmerman · 19/03/2017 16:29

emilybrontescorset Rebekah is the Old Testament spelling (from the Hebrew Rivkah); Rebecca is the Graeco-Roman New Testament spelling.

OP my name is Rebecca and it's served me very well - good choice Wink As PP's have said, no one can spell it anyway (Rebbeca is the bane of my life), so just go with whichever you prefer the look of.

TheLegendOfBeans · 19/03/2017 16:31

Rebekah. I'm a sucker for a Hebrew name.

emilybrontescorset · 19/03/2017 17:14

Thanks Miri

GRW · 19/03/2017 17:23

I know a Rebekha, which is even more confusing to spell.

kitchenarggghh · 19/03/2017 18:27

I'm another Rebecca and prefer the original spelling, perhaps it's because I'm not keen on people assuming that I'm a 'Becca'.

Farfromtheusual · 19/03/2017 18:38

kitchenarggghh I absolutely HATE being called 'Becca' Angry

BAR91 · 19/03/2017 18:51

I also hate being called becca!

Farfromtheusual · 19/03/2017 18:54

I also hate 'Bex'. Blergh.

PetalMettle · 19/03/2017 19:01

My niece is always Rebekah, my friend Rebecca goes by Rebi which I quite like

Fibbertigibbet · 19/03/2017 19:03

I prefer Rebekah, but I think people will assume Rebecca.

kitchenarggghh · 19/03/2017 19:15

Farfromtheusual I don't mind Bex but it's reserved for close friends only!

BAR91 · 19/03/2017 19:31

I don't mind it spelled Bek or Beks for me (spelling Rebekka) again for close friends only. Otherwise I'm Bekki

user1459464195 · 19/03/2017 19:36

I prefer Rebecca, at a push. But also love Rebekah. Great name, you can't go wrong.
