Bram.

Elmo is ridiculous and I say this as someone who seriously considered it! Thankfully, everyone highlighted it's ridiculousness to me and eventually I came to my senses.

Knifegrinder · 14/03/2017 23:54

Bram. Or have you considered Braham?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 14/03/2017 23:54

Tickle Me Elmo

Bram is one of those names that seems unfinished somehow, but it's quite snappy. Better than Elmo anyway.

Sophronia · 15/03/2017 00:20

Bram

OliviaStabler · 15/03/2017 00:20

Elmo is literally a Muppet.

Bram is Dracula.

Neither.

wobblywonderwoman · 15/03/2017 00:22

Neither - Bram is it really a name and Elmo is an adorable TOY

Orangebird69 · 15/03/2017 00:23

Seriously? Fucking hell! 😂😂😂

ryvitamylo · 15/03/2017 00:23

How is Bram not a name?

OP posts:
wobblywonderwoman · 15/03/2017 00:25

Luuk

Are you messing op?

ryvitamylo · 15/03/2017 00:25

Confused what?

OP posts:
Pallisers · 15/03/2017 00:26

please don't call him Elmo. really please don't. Sesame Street is everywhere. It would be cruel (and it isn't even a particularly nice name)

Bram is short for Abraham. I quite like it. My dad grew up in a jewish area and played football with a lot of Bramies.

Just thinking Sesame Street put paid to Kermit as a name too

Pallisers · 15/03/2017 00:27

Bram isn't Dracula. He WROTE Dracula. you are thinking of Vlad.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 15/03/2017 00:28

Elmo is a brilliant name.

For a tiny baby, a puppy, a teddy bear, a car or most other name given inanimate objects.. and a muppet.

But you Cannot give it to a real life child.

Could you do an E name and use it as a nickname?

ryvitamylo · 15/03/2017 00:28

Bram is also a stand alone Dutch name.

OP posts:
wobblywonderwoman · 15/03/2017 00:41

Abraham on birth cert is good
Are you Dutch?

Blackbird82 · 15/03/2017 00:41

I like Bram although not sure about the spelling. Is there an alternative?

Elmo is bloody awful, sorry!

ryvitamylo · 15/03/2017 00:42

We wouldn't put Abraham on the BC, as we like the Dutch name Bram. Yes, we are Smile

Buntysoven · 15/03/2017 00:51

I like Bram. It's strong and not just for a baby. Lovely name OP

KoalaDownUnder · 15/03/2017 02:13

Bram is a bloody brilliant name. I know an adorable little Jewish boy called Bram.

Elmo is a muppet.

Go for Bram.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/03/2017 02:29

Elmo is a god amongst the preschoolers. It's not a name you could call one.

I quite like Bram.

MiniMaxi · 15/03/2017 02:30

OP do you live in the Netherlands? If so, and the name Elmo doesn't make people think of the Muppets, then don't let that put you off (though of course he may one day wish to live in another country where it does)

I think Bram is my fave of the three anyway

(I love how everyone assumes an OP is English and must be joking about name spelling!)

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/03/2017 02:31

Why would someone ask about baby names on a British website if they were planning on having and bringing up the child in Holland? What would be the point?

And I don't live in the UK.

KoalaDownUnder · 15/03/2017 04:05

Well, I don't live in the U.K. either. But I don't see the problem. The OP obviously speaks English, and is interested to know how the names work in the UK.

Slydiad · 15/03/2017 04:38

Unless you're planning on spending the first several years of your child's life someplace where no one watches Sesame Street, you really can't name him Elmo.

Bram will make people think of Bram stoker and Dracula, but also it is a real name that is short for Abraham, so it isn't limited to only those connotations. I actually really like it.
