I think Elizabeth or Emily are the best fit with your other dcs names.
Elizabeth Frances
Elizabeth Sophia
Emily Rebecca
Emily Elizabeth (You could call her Embeth)

donkey86 · 21/02/2017 21:47

From your list, Lucy Elizabeth works well as a combination. So does Mary Elizabeth. I also think those three (in any combination) go best with the sibling names.

Badgoushk · 21/02/2017 21:50

Elizabeth Masie (Betsy, Betty or Lizzy)

JRoo · 21/02/2017 21:50

Mary Frances! All lovely names though.

bohemianred · 21/02/2017 22:13

Frances Emily "Frankie"
So spirited!

SuperBeagle · 21/02/2017 22:42

Lovely names, OP. Smile

I like these the most:
Lucy Elizabeth
Lucy Amelia
Amelia Mary

If you like Amelia and Emily, maybe you'd like Emilia? It sort of meshes the two. It's my DD1's name, and she gets Emmy for short. Smile

Catherinebee85 · 21/02/2017 23:25

Lucy or Elizabeth definitely. Rebecca, sophie and emelia are too common. Lucy Elizabeth sounds good as first and middle names I think Smile

Sophronia · 22/02/2017 01:23

I wouldn't go with Elizabeth as you've already used Elsie. I like Emily, Lucy or Mary best with the other names.

AndNowItsSeven · 22/02/2017 01:27

Magdelana nn Maggie even though it's not on the list.

FreeNiki · 22/02/2017 02:03

How about none of them and consider Alexandra.

There aren't many of them around and goes well with your other childrens names.

FloralOwl · 22/02/2017 08:00

LillianGish I had a very traumatic birth and didn't get to see her until she was 3 days old and hold her at 5 days. I have been struggling to bond with her and have been very unwell. My husband knows this and hasn't want to push me into coming up with a name.

Thank you for all of your comments.

We have read through your comments and have now removed Frances and Amelia because they share initials and also Lucy beause we call Charlotte "Lottie" and Elizabeth as she would likely be "Beth" and we have a "Bel" Mary has also been removed because I just don't love it.

So...

Rebecca
Emily
Emma
Sophie

I adore Rebecca but dislike Becky. Would Ruby work as a nickname?

OP posts:
ifigoup · 22/02/2017 08:05

Ruby is a sweet nickname but there's no way she wouldn't be called Becky at some point, so it depends how much you mind that.

From your remaining list I like Sophie and Emily best. But you probably don't want two names ending in the "ee" sound - so how about Emily Sophia or Sophie Emilia?

I can see how it can take weeks to name a baby as it happened to me too. Before I got pregnant, I had no idea what my ex considered to be a 'nice name'. If I had, I may have thought twice about having kids with him Grin as his ideas were just so off the wall! We spent nine months debating names with no resolution. Finally agreed on a first name a week after DS was born, then argued over a middle name for another five weeks until we got a letter threatening us with a fine for not registering him! Ex was v controlling though, and absolutely would not hear of me having the final say on a name, whereas most blokes would think you did the hard work so you get the final say.

It was the same with DS2, but I knew my legal rights at that point, so after a few days I said 'He is called X, if you don't like it I will register him on my own, good luck bringing a court case to force me to change it'.

I can also see how a traumatic birth makes things hard to deal with at this stage too.

They are all nice names, OP. Whatever you choose won't feel quite right until you've got used to saying it for a few weeks tbh. Then suddenly you won't be able to imagine her by any other name.

buzzmoon · 22/02/2017 09:24

I think Emily fits well with your other 4, congrats. All your dcs have beautiful names

KlingybunFistelvase · 22/02/2017 09:27

I know a few Rebecca's, none of whom are Becky ever. It's a lovely name. I also love Emma.

KlingybunFistelvase · 22/02/2017 09:28

Meant to add that Sophie and Emily are nice too but they are very well used where I live.

blueskyinmarch · 22/02/2017 09:31

I have a Rebecca and she is never Becky. She usually gets Becca. Not sure you can get Ruby from Rebecca.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 22/02/2017 09:33

Sorry you've been through the mill OP.
I like Emma Sophie.
However, my friends daughter is called Rebecca, her nick name is REBA, I like it, as I also don't like Becky.

SeveredPixieBits · 22/02/2017 09:41

All the Rebeccas I know are Beckys.
I like Emily the best.
I'm so sorry you had such a hard time OP Flowers

Elizabeth nn Bess, Bessie, Betsy, Lizzy etc. At least it buys you time. You can go with Elizabeth and see which nn sticks.

missyB1 · 22/02/2017 09:48

Sorry I think you've removed the nicest names, Rebecca will definitely become Becky. I would have said Mary or Frances.

All of the Rebeccas I know are called Bec for short. None are Becky, but none are Rebecca or Becca either.

I don't think Ruby will work as a nn. Ruby is a well-established (and very popular) standalone name.

heron98 · 22/02/2017 10:04

I love Mary. Pick that one.
