Expecting dc4.

If it's a boy, it will be a Thomas possibly nn Tom.

How are people's views on Lisa? Is it too 80s? I have always love the name as I think it's simple, unpretentious and feminine suiting a girl and a grown woman.

Lisa, yay or nay?
Thanks

I like it! When I was at school in the 90s we had millions of Lisas but you never meet wee baby Lisas now. It would actually stand out among Elises and Eloises. Nice international name.

CremeEggThief · 18/02/2017 15:30

It was the most popular name in both my year (born in 1978) and my sister's (born in 1981), but I think it's a lovely name. The youngest Lisa I know is in her early twenties.

BobbieDog · 18/02/2017 15:32

Its my name.

I havent come across many Lisa's, less than 10 in my lifetime (im 30)

If you were to choose the name then she would most likely be the only one in the school, nursery etc with it.

MollyHuaCha · 18/02/2017 15:36

It's lovely - feminine and strong.

StubbleTurnips · 18/02/2017 15:42

For the poster above saying Lisa / Liza are two pronounced different names.... I hasten to disagree. I have the Z version and pronounced Lisa.

Woe betide someone gives it the American Liza Minnelli Angry

Champers4Pampers · 18/02/2017 15:45

It was very popular when I went to school but not so much now.

I think it's pretty and can't be shortened. It will be considered unusual now. Some people might think it dated but not in the same way as Sharon or Tracey.

ThatsPlenty · 18/02/2017 15:50

I love this name.

AlexanderBerry · 18/02/2017 15:54

It's refreshing compared to all the Lilys, Avas, Ellas and Evies. I like it

circleSoflife · 18/02/2017 15:56

Thanks, lots of positive views and of course some neutral or negative. I'm very happy with that I had sort of wondered if everyone would say now way, too 70/80s common, boring bland. I know it can be seen as those but think that Lisa is simple and cool.

It's a nice name, I think. Although you will get people who can't think outside the box saying it's too 70s and 80s. It was popular then, but so what? It's similar but actually slightly nicer than Liza or Eliza, which are currently popular (at least Eliza is), so why not?

GinIsIn · 18/02/2017 16:54

Sorry but....

Lisa
Fooferella · 18/02/2017 17:00

My sister is a Lisa. She's a lovely, smart, strong and successful 44 yr old. Nothing but positives from me!

SloanyAnne · 18/02/2017 17:03

My sister is a Lisa born in the 60s. Ahead of the curve. She's a strong person Smile

LuxuryWoman2017 · 18/02/2017 17:06

I really love it, it's phonetically pleasing, looks nice written down, is feminine and simple.

It's a pretty name and has dated much better than many of the era it was popular.

Lisa - yep, lovely. I can't stop saying it now, Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!

reuset · 18/02/2017 17:12

It may not be popular with current generation, but given it's been top 100 for 30+ years (and top 10 some of that time), it's still very common name amongst the 30-50+ year olds. Hence lots of 'bland' type comments. Too close for comfort still I think. It will appeal to future generations to be sure.

reuset · 18/02/2017 17:13

Agree it's dated better than Sharon and Tracey Grin

circleSoflife · 18/02/2017 17:16

"Lisa - yep, lovely. I can't stop saying it now, Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!" Thanks x

FenellaMaxwellsPony thad made me laugh. I admit to liking Lisa Simpson a lot

What's wrong with Lisa Simpson? Shrewd, funny, warm and thoughtful with a sparkling intellect.

MrsNuckyThompson · 18/02/2017 17:40

It's a nice name but I think in my generation (born late 70s) it was just sooo common so now I associate it with a ton of girls I went to school with and are now in their mid to late 30s!!

How about Elise or Elouisa?

runninglikemad · 18/02/2017 17:46

It is a Sharon and Tracy type name although vastly better than those two. Totally of that era unfortunately. Love Lisa Simpson though!

ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2017 17:49

it's a nice name, also very international which is a plus IMO.

Yes. The Lisa I currently know is a colleague in our US office - chinese but chose this as her anglophone name.

And Lisa Simpson is the best character in The Simpsons by a mile.Grin

PineapplePunch · 18/02/2017 17:50

Awful. Similar style to Kelly or donna.

reuset · 18/02/2017 17:59

Oh no, Donna is awful now isn't it. Was that very popular? I can't imagine.

Sorry to any posters name Donna!

RuthB4 · 18/02/2017 18:06

Its one of those names that has been put out of mind as too boring but the more you think about it, it's a very pretty and spunky name. I like it! I hope you go for it!

I can just imagine a toddler running around called Lisa. I really think when it becomes the name of a child rather than an abstract name it becomes more appealing.

RuthB4 · 18/02/2017 18:07

You could also consider calling her something like Annalise that then shortens to Lisa. Although tbh I prefer Lisa on its own!
