Which names could I have to use Kitty as a nickname?

Hi everyone, I'm really liking Kitty as a name for DC3 at the minute but I'm not really a fan of Katherine as a longer name to put on the birth certificate.

Dd1 is Evie and I've always regretted not putting a longer name on her birth certificate which she can use when she gets older. She loves the name Evangeline and wishes that had been put on her bc to allow her to pick and choose, hence why I don't want to make the mistake this time round of just giving a cutesy name for baby.
So mumsnetters, can you think of longer names I could have to go with the nickname Kitty?
Thanks a bunch Smile

Use kitty as dds name and put whatever name you like on the birth certificate, you could even put Catlin or something similar as a middle name but just tell everyone from the off DDS name is "kitty"

I know plenty of people by thier middle names and not thier first names.

Also remember just because your DC wants a linger name than Evie, doesn't mean this DC will have the same thoughts

I know pps have already said, but Christina is a possibility as Kit is short for Christopher, then Kitty could be for Christina maybe? Nice name.

Katherine, Katharine, Catherine normally though, a great classic name. Katlin looks made-up. Just Kitty on the birth certificate is very cutesy and little-girly.

Katniss? Smile

I have a friend who is a Kate, but known as Kitty.

iamapixiebutnotaniceone · 18/02/2017 17:02

I have a Katie that we often call Katie Kitty Cat or just Kitty Cat or just Kitty.

My friend has a dd called Caitlin and her nn is Kitty. (She's 6 months old). I'm Katherine, nn Kate.

Sophronia · 18/02/2017 22:29

Christina
Christine
Christiana
Christabel

You could call her Geoff and still use the nickname Kitty if you wanted. Doesn't always have to relate to the actual name.

m0therofdragons · 18/02/2017 22:38

Kitty has been a name in it's own right since the 16th century. Dd3 is Kitty and I still love it - she was named after my great aunt Kitty (who was baptised Kitty).

I never get calling a dc Elizabeth and then using the nn that's not even close but each to their own. I wanted dd to be Kitty and worried that going with Catherine or similar would lead to her being called Kate or katie (which I didn't want as that wasn't the name I'd chosen.) it's hard to enforce nns imo but then according to mn dd3 will never have a good job.

lottieandmia · 18/02/2017 22:41

I would definitely go for Katherine - it's a great name.

SuperBeagle · 18/02/2017 22:44

I like Katerina the best.

It can also be spelt:
Katarina
Katharina
Katherina
Catarina (Edgar Allen Poe had a cat named Catarina)
Caterina

Have you thought about just naming her Kitty? I know two Kitty's - one my age, one 99! It's a lovely name. If you like it why bother naming her anything else? :-)

Parmaviolets13 · 18/02/2017 22:58

My age being 26 btw

Some excellent suggestions ladies. Kitty on its own may be a possibility, although Geoff is definitely a contender too. Grin
Thank you very much.

RebelRogue · 19/02/2017 00:41

IHeartKingThistle · 19/02/2017 00:43

A second vote for Catrin. I had to teach the poem of the same name for years and still love it!

ElvenMoonwings · 19/02/2017 01:23

Would it help to put a spin on Katherine? What about Catharinissa or Kathrynetta? Ie, Katherine with issa or etta on the end?

HollySykes · 19/02/2017 01:25

Cliff

Wreckingball25 · 19/02/2017 01:26

Felicity?

sooperdooper · 19/02/2017 08:42

I know a Kirsty nn Kitty

And going back to your OP, there's nothing to stop your Dd1 using Evangeline when she's older if she wants to, plenty of people choose to go day to day by a different name to what's on their birth certificate

rosy71 · 19/02/2017 08:52

Why not just call her Kitty? Or use it as a middle name e.g. Elizabeth Kitty known as Kitty.

MiniMaxi · 19/02/2017 09:43

Charlotte?

Merlin40 · 19/02/2017 09:54

Kaitlyn (I know a kitty shortened from this)
