Old man 'cockney' names?

TheTartOfAsgard · 14/02/2017 09:55

I already have a Stanley(12).

Looking for some old man type names that will suit ds2 (due beginning of June)

Want something that will carry him throughout all ages. Can't imagine him sitting in a pub when he's in his 60's and introducing himself as a 'riley' or 'blue'

Can't use Reg (one in family) or Bertie (I'm cockney and can't pronounce my 't's' properly.

So far have

Sidney
Lenny
Ron

Anyone think of any more?

Thank you Smile

Does anyone else really want to know what Bacon was a typo for or are we hoping it was a real suggestion? Grin

Ray. I met a baby Ray (named after his Granddad) a few weeks ago and it suited him so perfectly!

ageingrunner · 14/02/2017 10:30

Has anyone else said Bacon?
Or Wilf?

TheTartOfAsgard · 14/02/2017 10:32

Loving Vinnie, Ernie and Larry -

Ray is my dads name, and Darby is my grans mums maiden name!

Intrigued by Bacon. And now hungry!

Wilf means Wally where I come from, as does Rodney Smile

It's got to be Bacon then if Wilf's s non starter Smile

TheTartOfAsgard · 14/02/2017 10:39

Trying to think of all the men on my London side of the family now.

Lots of Jacks. Mick, Steve, Dave. Bruce! I wouldn't recommend that though Grin

RatHammock · 14/02/2017 10:44

Bacon must be an autocorrect for Brian, surely!

PenelopeFlintstone · 14/02/2017 10:44

Mickey
Freddy

Crunchyside · 14/02/2017 10:45

Michael Caine Grin

TheTartOfAsgard · 14/02/2017 10:45

Oooh I like dougie, I knew a boxer by that name.

Arthur would indeed become 'arfur' in my accent 😂

Good solid names that can be shortened, that gives them options.

Vincent - Vinny
Leonard - Lenny
Raymond - Ray
Reginald - Reggie
James - Jim
Edward - Ed

HairsprayBabe · 14/02/2017 10:49

I love Dougie, it is on my real shortlist, not Ballonz and Bacon Grin

DesolateWaist · 14/02/2017 10:49

Michael Caine

But his given name was Maurice.
Now that is a good solid name.

I do like Vinnie from these suggestions.

HairsprayBabe · 14/02/2017 11:48

From all my cockney relatives, and relatives in the older generations there is a trend of having a Sunday name and then a nn that is used all the time, e.g. Harold and Harry, Terance and Terry.

MissDallas · 14/02/2017 11:52

Love Vinnie! And it goes so well with Stanley.

Please let us know what you decide.

HairsprayBabe · 14/02/2017 11:56
