My OH is currently expecting our second. Our DD (Orla) is nearly 2.

We're starting to discuss names & if it's a boy, we both like Ezra. Trouble is that our surname starts with a 'RA'. So the two names kind of run in to each other. I was just wondering what people think and if this is a bit of a mouthful?

Other options are Max (but not sure we like either Maxwell or Maximilian) and Reuben (not sure about the alliteration either).

Oral?!?!?!?!

To be fair, after naming DD, we did notice that our phones autocorrect to this - one thing you don't consider when naming a child!!

I second NameChange30's suggestion of Maxim. Lovely alternative to the more frequently used versions.

I know one small Maxim (4 or 5yrs), who's only ever known as that in its entirety, rather than Max...so it needn't be inevitable. But he would have that option.

I also like Jude.

SumAndSubstance · 07/02/2017 11:55

Oral & Max also sound great together

I was very worried when I thought I'd missed that the OP had a child called 'Oral'. Just read back. Orla. That's a relief Wink

MiniMaxi · 07/02/2017 12:05

Esther Rantzen! Brilliant. Reminds me of the Noah Edmund thread from the other day Grin

OP, I think Ezra Ranson would be fine otherwise.

Or Ezekiel? (Zeke for short)

I think Max is a lovely name. I might be biased... We went for Maximilian on the bc but nowt wrong with just Max I don't think. Or Massimo Smile

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 07/02/2017 12:12

Jude sounds fine with Ranson.
Esther Rantzen won't resonate with your DCs' generation. (No offence, Esther!).

Choccyhobnob · 07/02/2017 12:18

I'm afraid I thought of old Esther too Blush Jude sounds great with your surname! Max is a lovely name (I have a nephew named Max) and doesn't need a longer official version. Leo also sounds good with Ranson.

Twoevils · 07/02/2017 12:20

I like Jude and Maxwell

How about Nile/Niall, Xavier, Cory, Eben, Asher?

Sranso · 07/02/2017 12:22

Thanks guys, sounds like Max and Jude are the frontrunners then!

Just a quick aside - for a girl, my OH is dead set on April - I'm not sure because, y'know, it's a month. Thoughts?

NameChange30 · 07/02/2017 12:23

Elijah?

Sranso · 07/02/2017 12:24

I love Niall, Twoevils

Been banned though. Too many Irish names apparently!!

Blush Woops!! Sorry! I blame autocorrect.

handonhip · 07/02/2017 12:28

Sorry, immediately thought of Esther Ranson, too. Max sounds really great with your surname imo.

user1477282676 · 07/02/2017 12:29

I immediately thought of Esther Ranzen too sorry.

Jude is great.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 07/02/2017 12:31

April is very pretty, it doesn't matter that she isn't born, in that particular month.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 07/02/2017 12:35

Different thread sugarpiehoneyeye? Smile

AmazingBobby · 07/02/2017 12:53

No Donkeys they just read TFT Grin

KlingybunFistelvase · 07/02/2017 13:06

April is pretty and wouldn't worry about it not being the month she was born.

Maxwell Ransen is nice. Reuben Ransen doesn't sound nice to me and Ezra is too much like Esther! I love biblical names though. How about:

Elijah
Isaac
Jonah?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 07/02/2017 13:35

Ha ha! I blame my phone and network!!
Blush
My apologies. Grin

Yy April is lovely {grovel}

thebakerwithboobs · 07/02/2017 13:45

Another Esther Ranzen here I'm afraid. Sorry OP. There is another thread running about calling a baby April at the minute-I wrote on there too but my name is January and nobody ever asks if I was born in January or assumes I was (I wasn't, as it goes). April is lovely 😊

Sranso · 07/02/2017 13:47

Thanks all. Feeling much more positive about April, but I won't be calling my baby Esther Rantzen lol

Sophronia · 07/02/2017 17:55

Max and Jude both sound nice with the surname.

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 07/02/2017 18:01

But I know a wonderful young man called Emre ...

user1471453563 · 07/02/2017 18:21

10Betty10 · 07/02/2017 18:37

I read it as Esther Ranzen too, sorry! Ezra is a lovely name though.

I think Max sounds brill. And is the sort of name that kids really love having as it sounds cool.
