No idea if we're having a boy or girl but struggling with boys names.
What do you think of the name Todd? Have a one syllable surname but think it sounds ok

DramaAlpaca · 04/02/2017 23:03

The only Todd I know is a dog. It's not a name I like at all.

buttercup54321 · 04/02/2017 23:08

I thought of Sweeney Todd. Then On your Todd. Really dislike it. It's t'Odd. Lol. What about David or Scott

IDontWantThisOnFacebook · 04/02/2017 23:10

I think of the twins Rod and Todd from The Simpsons. Not a good connection, or particularly interesting name. Sorry!

OrlandaFuriosa · 04/02/2017 23:11

He will get called Toad at school, or Toddy or Toady.

Trust me.

V usual in the US.

Ohyesiam · 04/02/2017 23:43

Wasnt one of the actors in Grange Hill called Todd? He sounds English.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 04/02/2017 23:52

Showing my age, but the only Todd's that I can think of are Elizabeth Wakefield's boyfriend in Sweet Valley High

That was the first thing I thought of too!! Grin

JaneJeffer · 04/02/2017 23:53

Isn't it a pet name for Thomas? It's cute.

Blackbird82 · 04/02/2017 23:59

I much prefer Fox!

Todd is awful, sorry

Sophronia · 05/02/2017 00:46

Awfiul

ChrissyHynde · 05/02/2017 00:55

The only Todd I know is about 25 years old which I like .... there's not many ,go for itv

piginboots · 05/02/2017 08:58

I'm pretty sure Todd means fox.

Sounds very Australian to me (was there a Todd in Neighbours??).

It's not bad though. I like foxes Smile

Nataleejah · 05/02/2017 10:52

Creepy

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/02/2017 12:27

Oh yes wasn't it the guy who went on to play mark in eastenders? What's his name..... Someone please put me out of my misery. Sorry to hijack your thread op, but that's going to drive me nuts

CaipirinhasAllRound · 05/02/2017 12:41

Carty

Doesn't seem very popular!

Not sure why David and Scott are seen as better alternatives though! Confused

Todd carty, yes. Thanks!

sashh · 05/02/2017 13:23

It makes me think of the book of pure evil. Sorry.

Aquamarine1029 · 05/02/2017 14:01

Todd has no style. It's a dud. There are MUCH nicer names than Todd.

wooster16 · 05/02/2017 14:31

Not a huge fan, reminds me of Todd Wilkins from the Sweet Valley series (and he was a bit of a drip!!)

twinjocks · 05/02/2017 14:43

I think it's a lovely name OP, can't understand the negativity of PPs towards it. It's a strong good sounding name to me - the only way I wouldn't use it is with a surname like Fox or Foxton, as it's the old word for fox.

backtowork2015 · 05/02/2017 16:28

Its ok, Is your single syllable surname a long sounding syllable or something short and snappy. Todd would work better with the former

MiddleClassProblem · 05/02/2017 16:32

Todd from Neighbours. I think I had a crush on him when I was 6. Anyway doesn't matter if others like it as long as you do.

teaforbreakfast · 05/02/2017 16:33

I thought 'wilkins' too!

If you want a SVH theme:

Jeffrey
Aaron
Ken
Nicholas
Roger (Collins)
Stephen *

All the above Elizabeth had a crush on or snogged .

  • I know he was her brother but seriously, that relationship wasn't right!
MiddleClassProblem · 05/02/2017 16:37

Manny!

Cakingbad · 05/02/2017 16:39

I like it.
It does mean fox, which is a good thing IMO.
