Can't decide if i love it
or hate it.

Opinions? does it remind you too much of the colour?

Violet Beauregard, and 'violent'

My friend's 9 year old. She's lovely and doesn't have a violent bone in her body.

A little girl from primary who had major behaviour problems and was violent and unpleasant. Apart from that, a little purple flower.
Not the most empowering name for a grown woman. Prime minister Violet? Professor Violet (yes if ancient history or the classics). Doctor Violet? (Carry on films). Author? Mills and boon rather than War and Peace. Musician? Folk singer/ morris dancer.
Nah. Not one I'd land my daughter with. Sorry!

My dd is Violet, was very uncommon when she was born, but seems to be increasing in popularity, (obviously biased) but I LOVE it

I think of the word violence.

And willy wonka's character.... spoiled and screechy.

IMO it's a bit chocolate box, sickly consumptive, and Victorian twee.

Aploogies to everyone who's called their dds this if my thoughts on this name offended, it's just my opinion as a knee jerk reaction. Flowers

The beautiful flower, as well as a gorgeous girls name.

Most names if one or 2 letters were aded would form another word, just such complete dull thinking to say you think of the word violent! Get a grip, says worrying things about your brains...

I'm a bit undecided. I know 2 little Violets and they are lovely and the name suits them. It makes me think of the flower rather than the colour. But I can't shake the feeling that it's too close to the word violent.

I will show my age then.

I think of Violet Elizabeth ( a very precocious young Bonnie Langford) in Just William saying "I shall scweam and scweam until I am sick!"

What do you think of when you hear the name Violet?

I'd be jealous as I wanted it for DD3 but MIL can't do Vs so DH blocked it.

I remember Willy Wonka but don't think that's enough to block using it.

It was one of the names I considered for DD before she was born, I love it as it was my grandma's name and brings back many happy memories. I didn't end up using it though as in the end DD just really suited one of the other names we had in mind.

Love it. Violet Beaudelaire, Violet Parr and yes, Violet Beauregarde. I like the Ronald Dahl connection though - it gives it the same storybook appeal as e.g. Matilda.
