He's gorgeous but none of the names we liked seem to fit him. Middle name is Strachan.

I also think Angus could suit him.

LittleL232 · 14/01/2017 22:59

I like Keir as well for the little dark one meaning. Could also go with Keiron.

squoosh · 14/01/2017 23:01

So chubby and so cute! He looks like one of The Flumps in his blue beanie. Smile

I like the name Caleb.

BonesyBones · 15/01/2017 10:25

Thanks all, still not much closer to a name! His wee face has thinned out a little and his hair doesn't seem to stop growing! He's a bit more of a crier than first two DC and has the biggest darkest eyes. We tried him with Caleb again but I can only seem to call hium that when I can't see him, it doesn't look right against his face. We tried Riley for a day but it's not working. We tried Austin yesterday which seems to be sticking a bit better.

I like Imurmama's suggestions: Alexander (which I know you can't use), Samuel and Robert.
Congratulations, he's gorgeous! Enjoy him, whatever he becomes.

I thought George or Samuel when I saw him. Good luck choosing and keep us posted on what you decide :-)

Riley is a bit of a naughty boy name IMO. Glad you're not calling him that. Austin just makes me think of cars.

GloriousGusset · 15/01/2017 14:47

What does 'naughty boy name' mean? Confused

Working class?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/01/2017 15:01

Why would it mean working class. Middle class children can be naughty as well. Hmm

GloriousGusset · 15/01/2017 15:04

Well of course they can so why do you never see people referring to names like Henry or Rupert as 'naughty boy's name'? It's always Kyle or Riley or something like that. I can only assume that 'naughty boy's name' is shorthand for something else.

MimiSunshine · 15/01/2017 17:02

How about Brody / Brodie?

Brody Strachan Surname sounds good to me

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/01/2017 17:06

Names like Henry and Rupert thought. Make me think of sly children. The ones who all the teachers think are little saints and, but. They do things on the quiet, and get the "naughty" children into trouble. At least you know where you are with a naughty child. I suppose. Its all about perceptions.

BonesyBones · 15/01/2017 17:20

We already have an Ollie and a Finlay. During pregnancy I particularly liked Caleb, Ezra and Elijah. Dp likes strong Scottish names like Angus and Hamish and Fergus but I'm really not keen. Both of our other boys and all of our male siblings are ginger and we weren't expecting the mop of dark hair!

We took ages to decide ds2s name because we have such different tastes. Even then finlay was a compromise and not a name either of us loved. It does really suit him now though.

I love Benjamin but I suffered a miscarriage a couple of years ago (before baby's sex was even known) and "named" the baby Ben as part of the healing process. DP thinks I would regret naming this baby Benjamin, because it sort of takes it away from the baby who never made it. He's probably right.

I don't even have a nickname for this little one at the moment, it's so strange, nothing seems to fit him, not even names I love. I'm sure it'll come in time. DP has been reading all of your suggestions to him to see if he "reacts" Grin

Is Reuben too close to Benjamin? Same nickname (unless you use Reu for short) know what DH means about not using same name though.

Finley was on our boy list. We also had Euan and Seth on the list.

His name will come, it's just more difficult when you and DH have different tastes in names.

Carnabyqueen · 15/01/2017 18:02

There are certain names of pupils teachers dread. I imagine Riley is on that list.

helensburgh · 15/01/2017 18:14

The first name that came to mind is Struan.

However names that were on our boys list.. sandy: sullivan: calum: gregor

MitzyLeFrouf · 15/01/2017 18:18

I know two children called Riley, a girl and a boy. Both charming kids.

Grinds my gears when people write off all children with name X or Y with a 'oh but that's such a naughty child's name'.

WankersHacksandThieves · 15/01/2017 18:18

Ben actually goes really nicely but I understand your reasons for not using it. I suppose that also rules out Benedict which is in keeping with the religious element of some of your other thoughts.

I like Austin too and think it goes well, I'm not so sure that Caleb really matches as well (not that it really needs to though).

How about:

Blair
Fraser
Nicol
Grant
Ramsay
David
Miles
Kerr
Evan
