Boys Names - what do you think of these?

We have made a first list of boys names which we will eventually want to whittle down to 2-3. We are Welsh and live in Wales so some are Welsh names. Which do you like best? Popularity isn't really a consideration for us so we don't mind if it's one of the top names we just want something we both like.

Cai
Caian
Caio
Eli
Elias
Harri
Ifan (Ee-fan)
Luca
Lucas
Madoc
Noah
Rhydian
William

Is Ifan not pronounced Ee van?

piginboots · 11/01/2017 17:01

I really like Harri.

I know an adult one and don't think it causes him to much grief (he lives in England)

raviolidreaming · 11/01/2017 18:54

Is Ifan not pronounced Ee van?

Not by any Welsh people I know!

I like Ifan, Cai, and Eli.

piginboots · 11/01/2017 19:11

*too Blush

GoulashSoup · 11/01/2017 19:27

English here ravioli so happy to be corrected, just going by what Welsh DH tells me. One F is pronounced v two ffs is pronounced F. He gives the example of Rhys Ifans. As I say I am going on DHs authority and certainly don't claim to speak for all Welsh people but wanted to check.

Sophronia · 11/01/2017 20:12

I like Ifan, Caio, Madoc and Rhydian

MadameJosephine · 11/01/2017 20:20

My favourite from your list is Ifan. I have a friend whose partner is Welsh and their little boy is called Rhodri which I love

BingThing · 11/01/2017 20:42

My favourite is Elias from your list. Love it!

CafeAuLaitMerci · 11/01/2017 20:46

How do you pronounce Rhydian?

raviolidreaming · 11/01/2017 20:57

He gives the example of Rhys Ifans

Oh, that's interesting because I always hear that as ee-fans! Maybe it's a regional dialect thing? Maybe I'm just talking nonsense... which is more than likely!

lucieloos · 11/01/2017 20:58

Rid-e-an

Could be regional ravioli, I could be wrong. I actually like it either way OP.

Pluto30 · 11/01/2017 21:09

I like:
Harri (I'd spell it Harry for the sake of the child not having to spell it constantly)
Luca
Lucas
William

I dislike:
Caian
Caio
Eli
Ifan
Madoc (sounds like mattock)
Rhydian

I'm neutral about:
Cai
Elias
Noah

Stopyourhavering · 11/01/2017 21:16

Mabon
Llyr
Morgan
Caio
Twm
Owain

Raines100 · 11/01/2017 21:41

Love Rhydian and Luca.

I'm English, and I would have guessed Harri was short for Harriet.

Pixilicious · 11/01/2017 21:59

Madoc is gorgeous, love it

HearTheThunderRoar · 11/01/2017 23:10

Sorry OP! I didn't read your opening paragraph properly Blush

Just ignore me...

MyBootsAreMuddy · 11/01/2017 23:30

Rhydian is my favourite. Also like Ifan and Elias/Eli.

Nataleejah · 12/01/2017 16:09

William

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/01/2017 16:33

Elias or Lucas

Rinmybell · 13/01/2017 16:35

I like Madoc!

bluechameleon · 14/01/2017 09:34

Elias, Ifan and Luca are my favourites.

carrotcakecupcake · 14/01/2017 10:12

Another vote for Ifan slightly biased as it was on my shortlist for DS though
