Which one? We really like them both Smile

I was responding to the person asking me if I meant Massimiliano

I don't agree soup.

No-one said, "Hold on, bit of a mouthful in the UK, are you in forrin?" It was two, "Is it made up?" and two pejorative references to pizza chains and ninja turtles.

VintagePerfumista · 03/12/2016 14:16

And I was responding to the person who said they were Italian/Spanish.

NameChange30 · 03/12/2016 14:18

What about Maximo? It's so much better than Maximiliano (which is too long IMO).

Having said that, I prefer Leonardo especially if you're going to shorten it to Leo - a lovely name.

Oh and for the PPs questioning whether Maximiliano is a name, it's on this list:

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 03/12/2016 14:20

I don't like either tbh.

JenLindleyShitMom · 03/12/2016 14:21

I think it was pretty obvious from the OP that these were Italian or Spanish names and not nonsense made up names. But of course once again, the entire world should compromise for the simple English tongues that couldn't possibly find their way round anything more difficult than mark. Hmm

Lovely names OP. Maximiliano is very long but if you are shortening it to max I think it's fine. I know a lot of Leo's so I would go for max personally.

SausageSoda · 03/12/2016 14:27

Oh FFS Jen it's got nothing to do with the fact that it's not an English name - I just don't like it and think it seems frilly and ridiculous regardless of it's origins. There are plenty of English names I also don't like.

Should posters just like every non-English name because it suits your faux-PCness?

bobbinpop · 03/12/2016 14:27

Leonardo. But I love both.

JenLindleyShitMom · 03/12/2016 14:30

Like or dislike whatever names you choose sausage. I wasn't actually referring to anything you had said.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 03/12/2016 14:30

How childish and rude.

My DH was brought up in Spain until a teenager.

Both he and I can speak fluent Spanish.

I don't like the names.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/12/2016 14:34

I don't like Maximiliano at all, regardless of where it comes from, it sounds overly long. Max and Maxim i really like though.

I don't like Leonardo either.

JenLindleyShitMom · 03/12/2016 14:35

And nor was I referring to anything you said piglet. Why have you felt this was aimed at you? Confused You didn't imply they were made up names.

And no, it's not childish or rude, it's an observation of many years on MN where this happens again and again.

DollieDottie · 03/12/2016 14:42

Mateo was 3rd on the list?

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/12/2016 14:45

Mateo is a great nameSmile

ThoraGruntwhistle · 03/12/2016 14:46

I like Leonardo and Mateo. Maximiliano really is quite unwieldy.

cheweduprope · 03/12/2016 15:27

I like both Max and Leo, but Leonardo/Leo is one of my favourite names, so that gets my vote.

OP - do you live in the UK? Remember that Leo will be pronounced differently here than it will be in Spain.

GrumpyDullard · 03/12/2016 15:32

I agree with PP that Maximiliano is too long. I like Leonardo but think Mateo is best. I was at Uni with a very dishy bloke called Matteo (or Mateo, I can't remember now). He was dreamy. .

SausageSoda · 03/12/2016 15:36

Have never met a Mateo/Matteo that isn't dreamy

Admittedly, I've only met two Grin

DollieDottie · 03/12/2016 15:40

Yeah, the names are quite long. Our surname is quite long too, so Mateo might be better.

Mateo Rodriguez - is that quite easy for the UK? We are living in Surrey.

OP posts:
NameChange30 · 03/12/2016 15:46

I think Leo Rodriguez or Max Rodriguez work just as well as Mateo. I guess it depends whether you want to use the short or long versions of the names.

I think Leo and Max work better than Mateo as bilingual names, if that's important to you.

NamingABabyBoy · 03/12/2016 15:49

NameChange30 - having a Spanish name is more important to me Smile

NamingABabyBoy · 03/12/2016 15:50

Oops, different account! I didn't realise I was signed into this on my phone. I never got to use this account though Grin

MiniMaxi · 03/12/2016 16:25

How about Massimo or Massimiliano? I think more accurate in Italian but happy to be corrected!

WaitrosePigeon · 03/12/2016 16:25

I really like Mateo!

DollieDottie · 03/12/2016 16:27

MiniMaxi - we are not Italian? Confused
