Bronte Lily, Catherine, Elizabeth/Elisabeth, Beatrix, Veronica, June, Arabella or Heather?
We've decided on the very lovely Bronte for her name. Will be adding umlaut on birth certificate but she can drop it if she wants as I'm sure it will be anyway.
Choose one and why please. Smile

Just nothing as a middle name that makes it sound like a gift from Haworth - definitely avoid any character names or anything heathery, tubercular-sounding or druggy. Poor old indulged Branwell.

Navy she said my kids name were terrible. How is that not a personal attack?

Bronte Arabella and Bronte Rose are my favourites.

Marcipex · 02/12/2016 22:37

I think Bronte Rose flows nicely.

Fwiw I like all of your children's names but I do know a Bronte and she is called Brontosaurus. You could get some cute dinosaur toys so she likes that. I know someone with surname Hog and her dds have lots of pig ornaments that they love. It kind of preempts any teasing.

SorenaJ · 03/12/2016 09:35

I think Bronte Elizabeth sounds nice. Or Bronte Rose.

(And I think Bronte is a really cool name. Could be much worse!)

Knittedfrog · 03/12/2016 09:52

Bronte Elizabeth is my favorite out of your choices.

JosephineMaynard · 03/12/2016 10:13

I know a young Bronte (5 or 6 yrs old), and I've never heard anyone say anything negative about her name in real life.

My first thought was that it was an unusual name, but it sounds nice and it seemed just as normal as any other name soon enough.

I would avoid Catherine or Heather as middle names though, as pp say, it brings Wuthering Heights too much to mind.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/12/2016 16:44

Bronte is gorgeous. I don't think any of the MNS go though, but if I had to pick one. It would be Bronte. Elizabeth.

SwedishEdith · 03/12/2016 17:37

I think it's needs a plain, one syllable middle name - Ann (but not that), Jane , etc.

I just think of Green Card.

FannyWincham · 03/12/2016 23:38

Umlauts and diæreses look the same but do a different job. You should really know the difference if you're using one in your child's name.

nichito · 05/12/2016 00:48

Oh for goodness sake, coming onto a thread to sneer and chortle at an OP and tell her how shit her taste is is just indisputably rude and vulgar behaviour.

Do people just bank on the recipient of their barbed little comments being too passive to bite back? How nice.

OP I think Lily goes best with the Bronte. Catherine flows nicely but I do think you'd be risking Wuthering Overkill.

notangelinajolie · 05/12/2016 01:05

Bronte to me sounds like a surname. Sorry, don't like it.

GreatFuckability · 05/12/2016 06:29

I like Brontë. I agree a short middle name flows better to my ear, but that's probably because my children have that rhythm to their names. How about Kate or Eve.

I think vixx's comment is rude as hell myself.

GreatFuckability · 05/12/2016 06:31

Oh and my daughters name has â in it, I don't have a clue what its called (in welsh we call it a roof lol) and I don't particularly care.

JunosRevenge · 05/12/2016 07:04

Bronte is a lovely name OP. I like Rose and Lily as middle names.

So much unnecessary rudeness on this thread...

I'm looking at YOU Vixx Hmm

theAntsareMyFriends · 05/12/2016 14:07

It would be boring if we were all named the same thing. Its not a name I would chose but I like it and think it has a great connection.

I think its a strong name so agree with a softer sounding middle name. Rose is a bit overused when it comes to middle names though.

I would also avoid any very famous Bronte character/connotation or any of the Bronte's first names.

I like June. I would add Elise. I think it fits well and is soft sounding.

FinnegansCake · 05/12/2016 14:46

At first I was a bit Hmm but it's a name that is growing on me the more I think about it .
I think it's best to avoid a second name which begins with a vowel, so that it flows better.
If you have a longish surname perhaps a one-syllable name would be better, like Rose (popular but always pretty), Jane or Faith.
If your surname is short, a longer second name sounds better.
Bronte Meredith
Bronte Merryn
Bronte Laurel/Lauren
Bronte Harriet

CaptainCabinets · 07/12/2016 03:01

I'm Grin that you named your son after "Grant Mitchell but not that one"...

Bronte's an alright name, I know one and she's not the nicest girl I've ever met but she's also the only one I've ever met. If I had to pick a middle name for a Bronte (assuming Bron-tay pronunciation) I'd probably go:

Bronte Lucy
Bronte Laura
Bronte Victoria
Bronte Imogen
Bronte Hannah

Libby34 · 08/12/2016 17:15

I love the name Bronte OP. Think the comments are quite rude.

BananaBeforeBed · 08/12/2016 23:31

Bronte ,Julia
Bronte Mirren
Bronte Judith
Bronte Emily

TheLivingAsheth · 14/12/2016 10:30

There was a writer called Bronte Aurell in Country Living this month. I thought what a pretty name and it reminded me of this thread.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 15/12/2016 21:05

Bronte Heather
Bronte Eloise
Bronte Violet

BringMeTea · 16/12/2016 19:42

I know a Bronte Rose. I think it's a lovely name. Very popular in Oz. Also like Bronte Beatrix.

lostlalaloopsy · 16/12/2016 20:35

I think Bronte is a lovely name. And Heather would go very well with it.
