Bronte Lily, Catherine, Elizabeth/Elisabeth, Beatrix, Veronica, June, Arabella or Heather?
We've decided on the very lovely Bronte for her name. Will be adding umlaut on birth certificate but she can drop it if she wants as I'm sure it will be anyway.
Choose one and why please. Smile

I like Bronte Arabella - just a nice flow (and btw, I think Bronte is a lovely name)

SarcasmMode · 01/12/2016 23:03

As you've mixed your older DC with those inspire you is there any other author/inspiration who has a surname that's workable as a middle name?

Christie if you liked Agatha Christie for example or Plath if a Sylvia Plath fan.

I think the negative connotations are the similarity sound wise to Monty. I actually quite like Monty too - both names I thought a bit meh then really grow on me. Similar to Blair.

A lot of MNetters dislike surname type names.

MollyHuaCha · 01/12/2016 23:17

OP, how are you pronouncing Bronte? Is it Bron-tee or Bron-tay or something different?

cheweduprope · 01/12/2016 23:31

Just wanted to say that although we have very different tastes in names, I think the fact that your kids all have "different" names and your reasons for choosing them is really cool. Bronte definitely fits in with the theme, and as a "sibset" I think it's an awesome set of names. Much more interesting than Harry, Olivia and William. Xmas Smile

I love the name Bronte.

Bronte Elizabeth is the name of my totally fictional daughter.

HOHOHOvariesBeforeBrovaries · 02/12/2016 07:19

Love Bronte Lily.

Bronte is a beautiful name!

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 02/12/2016 07:28

Educated people are not put off by it

Hmm
AllThePrettySeahorses · 02/12/2016 07:41

Bronte Beatrix is lovely.

It reminds of an amazingly talented musical star I saw in Shrek called Bronte Barbe. So yeah, great name.

Gruffalosfriend · 02/12/2016 08:33

I vote Brontë Rose!

Why are so many posters so rude and comment negatively on a name the op has already chosen? Do you do this in real life too?

Soubriquet · 02/12/2016 13:08

OP what about giving a child their own name and NOT after someone you personally admire?

Soubriquet · 02/12/2016 13:09

And that comment to vixx was a personal attack Hmm

WyfOfBathe · 02/12/2016 13:18

Brontë Beatrix (or Beatrice)
Brontë Heather
Brontë Elizabeth (or Eliza)

Sorry but thinking of bronte-saurus
Grin

stumblymonkey · 02/12/2016 13:25

Well calling someone a cow obvs isn't ideal but Vixx was unnecessarily rude to give OP a mean comment about her existing children's names when that isn't the topic of the post.

stumblymonkey · 02/12/2016 13:25

My fave so far is Brontë Rose

stumblymonkey · 02/12/2016 13:26

Posted too soon....the Rose is a good combination as the softness of it balances the hard 'T' sound in Brontë

She could have said "that comment was uncalled for and I don't appreciate it" instead of "you cow"

One is pulling up the phrase the other is a personal attack

Enidblyton1 · 02/12/2016 13:48

Another vote here for Bronte Rose.

I love Harper and Cole Grin

OrangeTrousers · 02/12/2016 14:00

OP:
As you've said that you are naming your DC after the literary sisters, then you'll also know that the authors' dad in adulthood changed his own surname from Prunty or Brunty to Bronte..

So it seems particularly in the spirit of homage to the Bronte family, to call your DC, (or yourself!) by a name of your own choosing (or invention), that YOU find appealing.

Jadamba · 02/12/2016 16:40

Vixx personally attacked me. How can it not provoke hurt & upset & not cause an upset reaction to say something like that? And Soubriquet and Navy why do you stay on my thread when you don't like my daughter's name & don't want to help me pick a middle name?
Orange, I'm not naming her after the Bronte's sisters dad so I don't see why that matters.

Are you American OP? Your name choices (especially surnames as first names) sound like it. Not having a dig, it's just if you are then you're probably not going to get the response you want from a predominately British audience! They're all very 'big' names. I actually quite like Bronte to be honest but wouldn't use it myself. Bronte Rose is nice.

I really like the name Bronte. There was a lovely Bronte on the Andrew Lloyd Webber find a Dorothy show, she was fab.

I really think Catherine goes best as a middle name. Or possibly Elizabeth. The others compete too much.
