Iris is lovely and we had Celeste on our list for DD, but I do like Celestina too.

SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 15:40

names.darkgreener.com/#iris

Rank 108 isn't very popular, I agree. Names like Eva/Ava etc are certainly more common. But there doesn't seem to be a sign of Iris going down (unfortunately).

We live in London as well. And I know 2 really cute little toddlers called Iris :)

I like Delphine suggested above.

I have nothing against unusual names but I'd try to make sure people can pronounce them at first sight. I wouldn't know how to pronounce Calliope.

SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 16:11

I personally don't like Delphine.

kÉ™-LIE-É™-pee :)

I personally wouldn't call these names unusual. They may not be popular but they are classical names.

And as much as I may like Calliope, it isn't on the name list DH and I share, so it's not an option.

Calliope Iris
Apolline Cressida
Celestina Iris

How about;
Jacinta
Cecilia
Anastasia
Persephone
Jocasta
Raphaella

hoddtastic · 12/11/2016 17:28

Serena or Iris.
Appoline just sounds like Pauline but trying very hard, Celeste is pretty.

SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 17:48

Anastasia is an extremely religious name imo.
Jocasta is beautiful. But I can't get over the marrying her own son thing (I know, it was a case of mistaken identity...)
I really don't like Celeste...

I really like Calliope Iris and Celestina Iris. I also like Apolline Serena and Serena Apolline.

Thank you, these are beautiful suggestions :)

hod an other point for Serena and Iris (I have a name chart with a point system). Thank you for commenting:)

Cressida, NN Cid.

AuntJane · 12/11/2016 21:08

Cressida in the Shakespeare play was a rather unfortunate character, and personally I wouldn't give a child her name.

Overthinker2016 · 12/11/2016 21:12

How do you pronounce Calliope?? Confused

I like Iris. I also like Celeste. Celeste nicer than Celestina IMO.

What about Colette?

SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 21:39

aunt

Well, that is true. But seeing as I actually know a Cressida the name makes me think of her and not of the tragedy.
However, it might be a good argument to convince DH that Apolline, Serena and Celestina are better options. But that's too manipulative, I guess....

DH doesn't like it. So, it isn't really an option anyway. I don't like Celeste.
Colette is cute but not THE name...
But thank you for commenting :)

I personally think we should go with Apolline, Serena or Celestina. Iris would be a lovely middle name....

I love Celestina, so pretty and feminine. Works well in most European languages too.

Serena is a little boring and Cressida reminds me of cress.

Sophronia · 12/11/2016 22:13

Love Apolline!

Overthinker2016 · 12/11/2016 22:26

Another suggestion: Eponine

But just to suggest things - what you've chosen already is lovely

bluechameleon · 12/11/2016 23:02

Serena
Iris
Celestina
Cressida
Apolline

Serena - I like this one. I went to school with a girl named Serena who was an absolute hoot, so there's positive associations for me. But I think it's a nice name, very underused etc. I suppose it does run the risk of people automatically thinking of Serena Williams, but I hardly think one of the world's greatest athletes being an association is a bad thing!

Apolline - I'm not a fan of this. I can envision a lot of spelling and pronunciation issues.

Celestina - Not a fan of this either. I don't mind Celeste (although, ever since I heard someone tell them it reminded them of the word moleste Hmm I've gone off it a bit), but Celestina is a bit OTT. Valentina might appeal to you, it's quite similar in sound?

Cressida - Bonas is the only person who comes to mind, and I'm not even in the UK. Blush

Iris - I like this one, but it's definitely more popular than the rest, if that's something you're concerned about!

Coey2016 · 13/11/2016 07:14

I like Cressida a lot!

Also like Celestina and Appoline.

Not so keen on Serena and Iris

Coey2016 · 13/11/2016 07:21

Oops - Apolline!
