I knew a Seraphina. I'm sure she's a lovely woman nowadays.

She was the kid that had chewing gum in her hair (we had to cut it out of her fringe...), didn't realise she had soup on her shirt etc. So, it is a lovely name, but maybe not...

Im not sure what's wrong with apple nicknames?

I really like Daphne. I've just put it on the list, thanks :)!

Iris is lovely - it's currently in my top 2 for DD (due in 2 wks). I also like Serena tho am less keen on your others.

Somerville · 12/11/2016 12:25

It seems to be classical Greek names (and particularly flower names) you particularly like. Me too!

So just putting a few more to you: Hebe/Hera, Ariadne, Iole/ Ianthe /Iolanthe, Penelope, Callista.

SausageSoda · 12/11/2016 12:31

I really like Iris.

Don't like any of the others at all, sorry.

Errppppp · 12/11/2016 12:35

I love Daphne and Celestine, Iris is ok but I'm not so keen on the others.

What is your surname like?

BonusNewt · 12/11/2016 12:42

For me it would go: Cressida, Iris, Serena, Celestine, Apolline, although I do like Polly as a nickname - it's just the difficulty in spelling, I had to check a few times even when writing just now as to how many Ls and Ps!

When I was little I used to make up stories about children called Concertina, Seraphina, Antonio and Plum. -helpful-

SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 13:02

Errpppp

English surname, slightly counterintuitive pronunciation (a syllable is basically swallowed), 2-3 syllables (depending on the pronunciation)

I love Iris and Serena, which reminds me of Serena Williams, who is incredible and a total badass and an inspiration for all women. and iris reminds me of Iris Murdoch which is another great connotation!

I really like Calliope. Celestina, Serena and Apolline are names I genuinely love. DH loves Iris and Cressida and I really like these as well. I probably like too many names...

dove

I agree, Serena Williams is awesome. And the meaning (tranquil, serene) is really lovely.

Apolline is a French name. It's quite posh here too Smile

BroomstickOfLove · 12/11/2016 14:38

Iris
Apolline

Cressida
Serena
Celestine.

I'm a bit biased about Celestine, because I know one who I'm not terribly keen on, and there's a Kirsty McColl song called Celestine and it reminds me of Celestina Warbeck from the Harry Potter books.

The rest are all nice though.

Shesinfashion · 12/11/2016 14:38

Iris is the only half decent one.

BroomstickOfLove · 12/11/2016 14:38

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I like Apolline.

SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 14:50

Bertrand
I know. We lived in France for a few years when I was a child. :)

Broomstick I really love Apolline :)

fashion So, an other point for Iris. Thank you for commenting :)

It was more a comment for people saying they'd never heard of it spunky. I love it. So many gorgeous French girl's names, I wanted Calixthe but DH wasn't on board.

Cosmicglitterghoul · 12/11/2016 15:18

I have an Iris (3.2), but from your others I think Celestine is an excellent name.

ChubbyMummy12 · 12/11/2016 15:20

I like iris. Serena is ok. Don't like the others.

SirChenjin · 12/11/2016 15:20
  1. Serena
  2. Iris
Don't like the others so difficult to rate them, sorry.
SpunkyMummy · 12/11/2016 15:26

plastic

Ahh... :) I agree, there are many gorgeous French girl's names.

Cosmic chubby Iris is lovely. But I do admittedly wonder if might be the next Amelia or Florence... Celestine isn't really an option. We like Celestina :)

Sir An other point for Serena :)

Cosmicglitterghoul · 12/11/2016 15:29

I ve only met a couple of other Iris's. (Live in London). I think it was more popular 6/7 years ago. I tend to hear more Eva/Ava/Aya s about.

Cosmicglitterghoul · 12/11/2016 15:31

In fact, I think Iris has gone down the list in the last few years.

Cosmicglitterghoul · 12/11/2016 15:31

Sorry, meant Celestina, my phone auto corrected.

KoalaDownUnder · 12/11/2016 15:35

How about Calypso?
