I don't know what to name her! 6 names left...

DP doesn't mind - he says I can pick (as he likes all 6) but I just don't know :( it's so hard.

The 6 are:

• Grace
• Ivy
• Layla
• Olivia
• Scarlet (I prefer it spelt like the colour, I think! I'm undecided on that too )
• Violet

Ivy grace is nice too.

I like Grace but it's very popular, so I'd go with Layla. I don't like colour names or female versions of male names (Oliver/Olivia) and Ivy reminds me of my grandma's friend.

But obviously that's just my personal preference - they're all perfectly good names. Congratulations on your lovely newborn!

I like all of them...

In order of preference:

1. Grace - a classic, will never date or have a "now" moment. Translates easily in all cultures, is easy to spell and intuitive to pronounce; has a lovely meaning, and the nickname Gracie is sweet when younger.

1. Ivy - just love the sound of this. It's short, simple, and, again, easy to spell and pronounce. My only concern would be that it's rapidly rising in popularity, and it may get lost among all of the Evies/Evas/Avas etc.

1. Layla - love this, love the song, love the spelling (better than Leila).

1. Violet - gorgeous. I know some people think it'll get shortened to Vi (prn vy) but I don't think it needs to be shortened, or that people will automatically shorten it, as it's only two syllables long.

1. Scarlet - I like this, but I prefer it spelt Scarlett, and I would guess that most people will assume that it's Scarlett, as in Scarlett O'Hara, not Scarlet as in the colour.

1. Olivia - I prefer just Liv, although there's nothing wrong with Olivia. The Olivia in my family has always been called Liv, and I actually think she'd suit it as a full name more than Olivia.

If you are the same poster who asked for advice re Grace going with the surname recently....then Ivy. Ivy all the way. It goes so well with the surname, it is just 'right'. So much so I remembered it later that day and thought, what a charismatic name.

I've always loved Layla and I think Grace is a beautiful, timeless classic.

Layla Grace sounds perfect together.

Ivy is nice too but it I always remember DH's great aunt Ivy who had the most impressive beard.

ah, well I still love Ivy! It is a personal thing but I do not like the sound of the name Layla at all. Olivia is very overused as are Scarlet and Grace to some extent. Violet could be pretty. I think Ivy and Violet are the more interesting names. Good luck choosing OP and congrats.

Grace is the most timeless of them.

Olivia's have been everywhere for the last 20 years it's been in the top 10, it's a lovely name, truly, but it's 10 a penny. It's what Emma and Sarah were when I was at school, more than one and sometimes more than two a form group.

Scarlett - a bit having it's "moment" the girls being called Scarlett now would have been Lisa or Kelly in the 80s

Ivy - really reminds me of Ivy from Corrie, but that's a long time ago and the association has died. People do tend to hear Poison though. I like it enough, but prefer the similar Iris

Violet - classy, the daughters of Ben Affleck and Emily Blunt are also Violets but I associate it with the chewing gum one from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Layla - I like the song, but too American? Also my cousin has a dreadful ex of that name!

Grace is utterly lovely, I may be biased though as I have a 17yo one (we call her Gracie though).

I LOVE Layla though, Layla Grace maybe?

Olivia is nice but a bit meh, ditto Scarlet and Scarlet will date.

I'm not overly keen on Violet but it's perfectly usable name.

I don't like Ivy but that probably because I am older enough to remember Ivy Tilsley (Corrie - Gail's interfering MIL).

Layla - great name.
I like Grace too, but I'd go for Layla - fits the Prime minister test imo.

Olivia is elegant and classic, and the nicest IMO.

I like the sound of Layla, but prefer the Leila spelling, it just looks prettier and less 'made up'.

Grace is quite nice, this has grown on me recently, I used to not like the 'gr' sound, but it has a lovely meaning and makes a great middle name too. Scarlet is also nice, but it gives the impression of someone very flamboyant and outgoing, what if she's not?

Violet and Ivy just seem quite fusty and old-fashioned to me still, though I do understand they are now back in fashion.
