Also, how would you spell it? Jae or Jaye? Like Mae or Faye (if you see what I mean!?)

Not sure what you're asking tbh. Boy or girl?

AmeliaJack · 28/10/2016 02:10

For a boy or a girl?

Jae looks like Jai to me.

Jay is probably fine for both sexes.

Frunt49 · 28/10/2016 02:11

Oh sorry! Basically Jay for a girl!

Ah, in which case Jay or Jaye.

I think Jae looks a bit odd and would risk being pronounced Jai.

peppermac · 28/10/2016 02:20

Jay then

FabFiveFreddie · 28/10/2016 02:20

Sorry, no to both. Too contrived and unclear and yoonique

NotWeavingButDarning · 28/10/2016 02:21

Not too keen on either really. Sorry.

Frunt49 · 28/10/2016 02:24

It seems like Jay is the best then! Opinions on Jaylynn? :) I think that looks better as Jaelynn though? It's so hard!!

Jaylynn? Do you live in the Deep South of the USA? If not, I don't think it really works.

I'm afraid that I can't think of any -lynn names without thinking off this film scene.

HappyCamel · 28/10/2016 03:07

I'm in US Deep South. Jaylynn would absolutely fit in round here.

How about Jaqueline or Julieann or Jillian?

ImSoVeryTired · 28/10/2016 03:16

Really don't like Jaylynn, or any spelling variant.
Jacqueline is ok. Jillian is very 50's/60's but ok.
Not keen on Julieann. Sounds like Julian so people will think boys name. Plus I am generally not fond of names that sound like 2 names shoved together.

Frunt49 · 28/10/2016 03:17

I live in Chicago 😂

Frunt I think you could go with it then. It won't raise eyebrows over here the way it would back home. There's a kid I know called Fount. Absolutely anything goes!

Pluto30 · 28/10/2016 05:37

Jay is fine as a nickname, but I can't see it as a stand alone, female name.

Jenna with the nickname Jay? Jennifer? Jane? Josephine? Jade? All could have Jay as a nickname. I know a Jennifer who goes by Jae (this spelling).

SmallBee · 28/10/2016 06:16

I saw a programme the other week with someone called Jael on it ( pronounced Jail) so I guess if you go with Jaelynn it might be pronounced Jail-in whereas I'm assuming it's Jay-lyn? If you are keen on an e in there though you could go with Jaylynne?

stonygreysoil · 28/10/2016 09:07

Jay (e) as a proper name doesn't work for me.Maybe a nickname, and you've got the whole universe of J names for girls to pick from.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/10/2016 10:11

Jaydene

SoMuchRoomForActivities · 28/10/2016 10:35

No. Sounds and looks like a nickname. Plus they will have to spell and explain it endlessly throughout their life.

WuTangFlan · 28/10/2016 10:38

Jaelynn sounds like jailing to me.

rainbowstardrops · 28/10/2016 10:48

Jaelynn is ok I suppose. Jay is ok too but a bit plain.
Have you considered Jaya?

WeArePregnant11 · 28/10/2016 11:18

JaeLynn or Jaelynne is very Southern US/Mormon imo. Jaydene/Jaydean as well, btw.

Why not just "Jay"? Or Jo?

MotherDuckSaid · 28/10/2016 13:54

Its a bit of a non name tho IMO, more like a noise. There's not a great deal of substance to it.. As a woman I wouldn't want to be named tht, when there r sooo many other potential names to choose from

MotherDuckSaid · 28/10/2016 13:55

Tho its not as bad as jaylynn 🙈

Jaylynn just wouldn't be used in the UK so you won't get useful responses here. I don't like Jay for a girl, in the uk it's a nickname for boys like Jason, jamie etc.
