Really though op you're naming a person, not just a baby - I'd really rethink your list of "names"

If you really have to I say go with Maddie, the others don't sound good as names and especially not with Hollie.

I like pp suggestions of Marnie, Maisie

Maddie is the only one that sounds like a name for a person (rather than a puppy). Bonnie and Harrie are particularly bad and sound really twee with Hollie (which is really nice, as it's a full name and not a cutesy nickname). I would second the suggestions to give her a 'full' name on her BC. She's going to be an adult a lot longer than a baby or a toddler; names that sound cutesy on a 2 year old often aren't so great when you're 22, 32 etc.

Maddie. What about Hattie?

I do like Maddie as a short form of Madeleine or Madison but personally wouldn't just use Maddie.

They're all ok as shortened versions of a longer name ie Maddie for Madeleine but all a bit twee for BC names.

They sound like what a child would name her doll. Sorry don't like any spelt like that, very childish.
Harriet or Madeleine on the BC would be OK.

Maddie is ok, if those are your ultimate top 5 and you love them, we are all different. People will be positive irl - but on this thread you have heard their real thoughts.

I'd honestly think of names that are real names in their own right though, there are plenty with the 'ie' ending, including Sophie, Katie, Annie, etc.

Well, I suppose Bonnie as it's the only one that's a real name, but it is more like the name for a golden retriever than a child, to me. As PPs have said, Marnie is nice.

I don't like any of them as birth certificate names. I think Maddie and Bonnie are nice, but as nick names not as proper names.

Dottie - lovely and could probably stand alone though I love Dorothy and Dorothea
Mattie - I like as a nickname for Matilda or Mathilde but I don't think it works as a stand alone name
Harrie - like Matilda I like as a nickname for Harriette or Harriet though prefer Hattie or Hattie but fint see it as a stand alone name for a girl
Maddie - works best as a stand alone name but I think i prefer Dottie

So my choice is Dottie though I actually prefer Dotty

It bothers me that my parents gave me a shortened name as my birth certificate name. It gives me nowhere to go with my name because my parents made the choice that they only wanted the short version.

It also gets really boring every time you're giving an official your details when they say 'oh, your real name must be Rebecca though?' (not my actual name but a good similar example. Imagine being named Becky instead of Rebecca). A teacher at school actually entered me for an exam using what would be the full version of my name.

Bonnie because it is the only one that won't have the kid explaining for the rest of her life that no it isn't short for anything!

Don't particularly like it, but Bonnie is the only 'proper' name on your list.

None I'm afraid, at a push Maddie, but even that sounds like a nickname and not a 'proper' BC name.

Dottie if I had to pick but I really would put Dorothy or Dorothea on BC.
