I know of someone with Ben and Holly which always makes me smile. I think I would choose something else, OP

wendytorrence · 23/10/2016 11:09

Just do it.
I have an Elliott but not a Billy and still had people saying Billy Elliott to me. And a few people saying Elliott in ETs voice.
I just shrugged it off. Ds is now 14 and I haven't had comments for a long time.
He has never had a comments from his friends about his name because most of them have never seen ET or Billy Elliott.

lljkk · 23/10/2016 11:27

Obvious that a lot of people on thread never even heard of the movie. Just use the name you like.

Hurricane99 · 23/10/2016 13:37

I'd go for it if you both live the name. Yes, people might make the connection briefly (but it's not like Billy Elliot has terrible connotations anyway) but they'll get over it. They won't always go everywhere together either. And if kids want to tease, they'll always manage to find something. Elliot is a lovely name. Go for it.

mummag · 23/10/2016 19:27

Queenliz how rude you are

Yika · 23/10/2016 19:32

I think it's absolutely fine!

Vixxfacee · 23/10/2016 20:30

Elias

TheColonelAdoresPuffins · 23/10/2016 20:38

Ha ha at op having to explain the same thing over and over on the first page and Nightwanderer saying it's like having a conversation with her mum. Grin

Are Billy and Elliot the same child op? Wink

Joinourclub · 23/10/2016 23:46

Yes of course you can.

Choccyhobnob · 24/10/2016 15:44

Yes people will make the connection and you'll probably get annoyed when the hundredth person says it but after the initial little thought I probably wouldn't think about it again.

Also I know two adult Billy's and their names aren't ridiculous at all.

And lastly, Elias could be a great compromise. I thought it was pronounced El-EYE-us but the one I know is pronounced just like Elliot but with an S on the end.

EccentricPickle · 24/10/2016 18:26

I think you definitely can.

I have two girls and hardly ever shout their names together. When calling them I usually scream shout "girls", thinking about it. I always swore I'd never refer to them as "the girls" but I do. Blush

RockyBird · 24/10/2016 18:30

Go for Elliot.

Rather that than Harry Grin

BeyondReasonablyDoubts · 24/10/2016 18:41

I know a Harley and Quinn, I think Billy and Elliot is okay

neolara · 24/10/2016 18:43

I know a Sam and Ella.

Not sure I'd use Billy and Elliot. Sorry.

cheesymac · 24/10/2016 18:48

Ellston?

cheesymac · 24/10/2016 18:53

Or Evan is lovely too.

LucyFuckingPevensie · 24/10/2016 18:54

Use it, it's fine. Congratulations.

FreshHorizons · 24/10/2016 18:55

There is only one answer - No you can't!

Shemozzle · 25/10/2016 20:39

Yes you can. Yes I did instantly think of the film/musical but who cares? I think lots of posters didn't make the connection or there wouldn't have been so much confusion over something simple on the first page.

They won't always be introduced together anyway, and it will just be you two who have to hear the odd comment, as their peers won't make the connection.
