How many Judes under-5 do you know?

And where do you live? I only ask as I don't know any, but just saw a comment on another thread along the lines of "not another baby Jude - I know at least 5 now...".

I'm just interested really - it's on our list and while popularity isn't the key criteria I would prefer it if DS (if it is a DS) is not going to be one of 5 in his class.

Two, both male. North east.

I'm in the South West. I know 5 Jude's between 7 - 12. However I'm kind of out of the baby-circuits so not sure sure of the recent naming trends.

I only know one (boy) Jude and he is about 12 years old. London.

MelCookie · 15/10/2016 21:51

None (London)

RainbowDashstolemyidentity · 15/10/2016 22:09

I have a Jude (12) he's never encountered another one through primary school but now at secondary school he's 1 of 3 in his year. Doesn't bother him in the slightest & he loves his name!
Also, gets called "dude" a lot!!!

Racheyg · 15/10/2016 22:14

I have a Jude and I live in east London. He was born in 2015

MrsNuckyThompson · 15/10/2016 22:24

I know of 1, he's in Scotland. The name seems really popular there. Near where I live in London I don't know any.

Patron saint of lost souls...

It is definitely one of the names I would never choose, despite a preference for short names... Not religious but the fact St. Jude and St Judas are also frequently confused and had in fact the same name in the original Aramaic matters. Meaning matters. Jude the Obscure killed his siblings and died in his early 30s after a miserable life. At Jude is Patron saint of lost souls.

When choosing a name there isn't much to recommend it beyond it rhyming with dude! Or prude... Or nude? Or snood? Food?

LetitiaCropleysCookbook · 15/10/2016 23:09

I know 1. We're in the SW. I love the name, btw!

Imps9 · 15/10/2016 23:43

I love the name too. Don't know any in Cambs.

I quite like the idea of St Jude being the saint of lost souls/causes because he helped them. I think some people carry pendants with his picture on for comfort. I see that as a positive rather than a negative. Just my opinion though :)

Chinlo · 16/10/2016 00:31

"Meaning matters"

...To some people.

Also I've never heard anyone confuse Jude with Judas.

BackforGood · 16/10/2016 00:38

0 - Midlands

Indeed I can only think of one I 've known all my life, and she would be 70+ now.

squoosh · 16/10/2016 00:40

I've always loved the name Jude and his being the patron saint of lost souls is a positive in my book.

autumnmoon · 17/10/2016 12:23

I have met 3 baby boy Judes in my life! I also know a couple of adult Judiths who like to be called Jude. Seems to be getting more popular for boys at the moment but that's perhaps not such a bad thing. I love the novel Jude the Obscure and wouldn't let that put me off.

MotherDuckSaid · 17/10/2016 19:42

i live on the english/ welsh border, i know one Jude under five :)
