How to make this name work with my surname?

I have always loved the name Lily and am set on using it. However, my surname is Lee and I just can't use Lily Lee, surely?

I don't like Lillian, and I don't think Lillian Lee sounds much better anyway...

How can I make Lily work with this last name?!

It does not sound amazing. Lily Lee is a comedy name whether Lily is the official name or the nickname of a longer name. Call her something else.

SoupDragon · 14/10/2016 13:22

If you give her a different name but call her Lily day to day you are still calling her Leeleelee.

SoupDragon · 14/10/2016 13:24

So therefore Charlie Lee sounding Char-lee-lee so... I do not think you have too much of an issue.

Except Char is a very different sound to Lee whereas the Li of Lily isn't.

Manumission · 14/10/2016 13:28

Not Lilith. It's similar to calling a boy Lucifer.

I'd just go with Lily Lee, myself. The only worry would be coming up with equally Hollywood-fabulous names for future siblings Smile

TheVirginQueen · 14/10/2016 13:29

That doesnt work at all.

Lydia lee - nn lily?

squoosh · 14/10/2016 13:33

Cyd Charisse is a Hollywood-fabulous name. Lilylylyly isn't.

I love Lilliana

Yes, maybe.

Lydia Lee is very good, though.

Boolovessulley · 14/10/2016 21:01

I think it's a mouthful. Do you have another name you like?

Boolovessulley · 14/10/2016 21:01

The thing with double barrelled named is that not everyone will use it.
It's like nicknames people do it automatically.

ClaudiaJean2016 · 14/10/2016 21:08

Can you have her initials as "LIL" and use Lily as her nickname?

Lauren Ivy Lee
Lorelei Imogen Lee

Pluto30 · 14/10/2016 21:08

Double barrelled isn't really an option, because my surname is hideous and difficult for people to spell/pronounce at the best of times.

My husband only likes the name Dixie otherwise... I don't hate it, but I can see other people having Hmm this face at it.

I don't have any others, because I seem to like a name for 5 minutes and then get bored of it haha. Boys names are so much easier.

Dixie Lee? Is he taking the piss? Shock

MadameDePomPom · 14/10/2016 22:02

What about Rustie or Sara?

Pluto30 · 14/10/2016 22:02

He had some real shockers (yes, Dixie seems tame compared to them) early on. May have to ban him from giving his input. Grin

Hypnotise him Smile

Pluto30 · 14/10/2016 22:10

Good idea, Manumission! Grin

I actually knew a Lily Lee. I think her first name was Elizabeth but she was always known as Lily. No one ever thought her name was silly.
