...well, what happens if you still can't choose a name even when the baby is in your arms?! I'm due soon and can't decide. I am indecisive by nature and just know that whatever I choose I'll regret and want to change again the next day! Posters often say you'll just know when you see the baby - really?

It took us 8 years and 4 rounds of IVF to have DS. We chose his name for its meaning (prayed for) and I found the name by chance when we were at IVF 2 and fell in love with it. It's unusual but not ridiculous, and quite a cool name (IMO at least). We didn't have any other names we even remotely liked for a boy, so I'm glad he suited it when he was born! And we didn't know what we were having and had around 3 possible names for a girl, none of which I was particularly in love with, think I was destined to have my Saul. And although I'm not particularly religious, my granny tells me that in the bible, Saul was known for being the tallest and most good looking of men, and he is living up to both traits so far! Smile

We had a short-list but waited to see what she looked like. Then we tried out the name (Alys) just between ourselves for a week to see whether it "stuck". DH was happy with it, I didn't feel it was quite right, so we went for an entirely different name (that hadn't made the shortlist).

When she was about 6 months old I decided she looked like a Harriet, but by then it was too late! (I still do think she could be a Harriet to be honest, but I like the name we chose.)

With this baby, we have a shortlist but who knows what he'll end up as!

Middle names were decided in advance each time as they're family names.
