Trying to think of both boys and girls names, I like very odd and unusual names that are unheard of. I have Lyndon and Elodie for girls but only Kylan for a boy would like some suggestions on more names for both sexes please?

I don't know if you realise, but Lyndon is a boy's name.

lexxiedoll · 28/09/2016 01:09

I'm aware, but I've heard so many girls called Lyndon and I love it, prefer for a girl to a boy.

Lyndon for a girl? Are you sure it isn't London?

Shine7 · 28/09/2016 01:22

Lyndon really isn't unisex

katemess12 · 28/09/2016 01:26

Lyndon B. Johnson is the first person who comes to mind when hearing Lyndon. Definitely not feminine.

lexxiedoll · 28/09/2016 01:39

Lyndon tends to be used in America for girls. Hence why in England it's unusual, which is why i love it. Although now not too sure with the comments, Elodie is still a favourite but I would love to hear any other unusual names you guys have.

Most unusual name for a girl that I've heard is Ildiko. (Norwegian, I think)
think it's a bit ugly myself but you wanted unusual Grin

Tartyflette · 28/09/2016 01:59

Boy's name Einar (pronounced AY-NAR) . Norwegian again. Also Icelandic.

ShmooBooMoo · 28/09/2016 02:04

Currer

Enidblyton1 · 28/09/2016 02:05

I like Elodie, but it's definitely not that unusual these days. I know several.
Lyndon is definitely a boys name to me.

ShmooBooMoo · 28/09/2016 02:05

Amyas (boys' name)

ShmooBooMoo · 28/09/2016 02:06

Merrick is a boys' name but could work for a girl.

ShmooBooMoo · 28/09/2016 02:11

Sylvain for a boy and Sylvie for a girl?

I love Eponine for a girl.

ample · 28/09/2016 02:39

Lyndon is LBJ to me.
I always thought Fairley/Fairleigh to be rare and unusual but I have since met two of them.
Adosinda, Trelawney and Marzan.
Emeric and Audley (boys)
I know a Kylan.
Agree Elodie is becoming very popular.

I find some unusual names lovely even though I prefer the classics Smile

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/09/2016 09:13

Dorrinda
Ysanne
Lowenna
Uma

Clarke
Fforbes
Stirling
Verne

Lyndon means lime tree hill so I don't really see anything particularly masculine nor feminine about it anymore so than any other nature name.

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 28/09/2016 13:07

Lyndon is a lot better than Elodie to my ears. It wouldn't bother me is it's a boy or a girl name as it's unusual enough.
Liefe is also either male of female.
Cillian would work for either even though it's definitely a boys name.

ageingrunner · 28/09/2016 13:15

Is it linden for a girl? I've just done a Google search and one of the hits was 'linden smells like sperm' 😬

ageingrunner · 28/09/2016 13:15

Linden is a tree/blossom

TheSunnySide · 28/09/2016 13:18

Lyndon is used a lot for boys in Wales.

1potato2potato3potato4 · 28/09/2016 13:20

Agree Elodie isn't an unusual name, if you really want to be unusual I wouldn't use Elodie.

MidnightVelvettheSixth · 28/09/2016 13:27

We have an Elodie & a Melody in DS's year at school, they are 7/8.

Off the top of my head I only know of one each of these:

Girls

Genevieve
Robyn
Eedie
Harriet

Boys

Corelli
Junior
Godson

crayfish · 28/09/2016 13:29

I know a Lyndell who is female, I would say Lyndon is definitely male. One of the most unusual names I have come accross recently was Gunnar for a boy.

PageStillNotFound404 · 28/09/2016 13:30

Godson?

BlueChampagne · 28/09/2016 13:54

Kerenza
Vashti
Blaise - normally a male name though I have known two girls called Blaise.

Conrad
Wreford
Piran
