What do you think of Mireya (pronounced Mir-RAY-ah) as a girl's first name?

When I read 'is it made up' on these threads I hear it said a la Lady Bracknell.

Immediately thought of Mirena too! I like Mia but prefer Nia if that's an option. It's Welsh I think.

I also thought Mirena but agree with a pp that although most posters on here have probably heard of it, the general population don't necessarily use the word/have that association. And kids in school wouldn't.

Mireille is lovely but only when the r is said properly by a French speaker. Not "mee-ray" English pronunciation.

I haven't heard it before. I like it, and I love the French Mireille too (I know a lovely French lady called Mireille so the name has good association for me!).
BUT, both of these names sound much better when said with Spanish/French accent. I would never call a DD of mine Mireille in the UK - it does not sound nearly as nice in a British accent!

I have only ever met one Mireya, and she was adorable, so it's a thumbs up from me. Didn't think of Mirena!
