Garfunkel.

KoalaDownUnder · 25/09/2016 03:58

Paul is awful.

Simon is nicer.

Glastokitty · 25/09/2016 04:08

I have cousins called Simon Paul and Amanda. We are all in our 40s, to me they are retro 70s/80s names. Not a fan really.

Optimist3 · 25/09/2016 04:41

Matthew is a retro name I like. Paul and Simon less so. Much less so infant.

Optimist3 · 25/09/2016 04:45

Eric or Samuel are also nicely retro

BlossomHillOne · 25/09/2016 05:38

Keeping in with the Paul Simon theme...

Gus, Roy, Stan, Lee, Sam.

Optimist3 · 25/09/2016 05:52

Gus is great

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 25/09/2016 05:54

Paul is great.

Not keen on Simon

Evergreen17 · 25/09/2016 05:58

Can I go for none? Sorry, Simon is terrible and Paul is for an older man, maybe one that plays the guitar left-handed

hollyisalovelyname · 25/09/2016 06:01

The only Simon I know isn't very nice. Up himself.
Paul is just meh.
Sorry OP.

Dozer · 25/09/2016 07:11

I too know some Pauls who are tossers, but it was a popular name so am sure there a lovely Pauls too!

Matthew, Mark also v popular retro names.

Both are great classics that make a refreshing change from all the Archies, Teddies and other trendy names.

Simmi1 · 25/09/2016 08:12

James? Also a traditional sensible name but doesn't sound so 70s/80s.

Nospringflower · 25/09/2016 08:31

Not keen on this style but prefer Paul of the two. Don't mind Mark or David though.

Sabistick · 25/09/2016 08:35

Paul

dangerrabbit · 25/09/2016 08:49

Both sensible names that you can conceivably imagine a grown up man being able to introduce himself by without embarrassment.

The only downside is that your child will likely have a very unusual name for his generation, there'll probably be males 40 years older and younger with the same name but very few of his peers. The names may be used more often in his age group if you attend church, not sure if this is the case.

BoboBunnyH0p · 25/09/2016 09:05

I like both but prefer Paul, my DH is a paul and I know a few, they are lovely blokes definitely not train spotters and I have to nag mine to mow the lawn.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 25/09/2016 10:51

Paul

HollyBollyBooBoo · 25/09/2016 10:55

Awful names, sorry.

PonkAlert · 25/09/2016 10:56

Saul?

katemess12 · 25/09/2016 10:56

I've always loved the name Simon.

Like Paul too, but Simon is much better.

GinIsIn · 25/09/2016 10:57

They are both terribly dull!

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 25/09/2016 18:09

There are sooo many Pauls in this world. All 30/40 something bellends in the main.

Simon is nice, it's my db's name, but I've always thought it old for him and he's 29.

BummyMummy77 · 25/09/2016 18:11

Paul. It's my dad's name and ds's middle name.
