Thoughts on the name John Paul? I met a little one last week. I then just fell in love!

Nice name. Does sound quite catholic but possibly you are!

FarelyKnuts · 04/09/2016 21:23

Pope
Catholic

wigglesrock · 04/09/2016 21:25

I went to school with millions of them Grin, was the name of its day in my primary school. Usually shortened to JP. I haven't heard it in years. It's alright - dated but that's just because it was so popular where I was - sort of like Joanne, Nichola, Fiona, Grainne, Paul, Marty, Stephen, throw a stick and you'll hit 5 of them when I was at school.

Pope
Founder of US Navy
Hair salon in Dumfries

It's quite a popular combo Smile

'Hair salon in Dumfries'

Gave me a laugh.

EddieStobbart · 04/09/2016 22:01

Got my ears pierced there in 1988

fudgesmummy · 04/09/2016 22:06

My ds is 29 and his best friend is called John Paul. He was his best man at his wedding last year and is just about the coolest bloke on the planet! His nn is JP. Catholic sounding? Good job we are all Catholic then! Grin

Rinceoir · 04/09/2016 22:06

I went to school/college with loads of them too! No prizes for guessing my age!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/09/2016 22:08

Yes, I like it.

paddypants13 · 04/09/2016 22:08

I'm also Catholic Fudge, it wasn't an insult.

Laineymc7 · 04/09/2016 22:11

I love it. It's my brothers name so I'm biased. Never met another one. He gets called JP by his mates.

Spaghettidog · 04/09/2016 22:14

About 50% of Irish males born in 1979, year of papal visit, including my baby brother!

BlossomCat · 04/09/2016 22:17

I'd think of Satre.
or, my mum's late cat, the lovely, fluffy JP. (so called as all cats are existentialists...)

Vixxfacee · 04/09/2016 22:19

Awful

BaronessBomburst · 04/09/2016 22:21

I know several. All Irish and named after the pope.
I thought of the Beatles first though.

DawnMumsnet · 04/09/2016 23:13

Sorry folks, but the OP's a previously banned poster - we're taking down all her threads now.

ClockMakerSue · 04/09/2016 23:17

All the bogus threads follow a pattern...op name ends in lots of the same letter and the op never comments after initial post!

LunaLoveg00d · 04/09/2016 23:22

Very pope-y and catholic-y. Only John Paul I've known is of Italian descent and calls himself just John.

EddieStobbart · 04/09/2016 23:26

So is this supposed to be goady?

AuntieStella · 05/09/2016 06:34

Possibly not. I've read lots of comments to the effect that some trolls want to build up an innocuous posting history before they go nasty.

Tabsicle · 05/09/2016 13:56

Very very pope to me. I'd assume very Catholic family.

AmyC86 · 05/09/2016 17:39

Extremely Roman Catholic. Large populations of Irish and Liverpudlians appear to have that name.

Although, two very strong male names if you like it, go for it
