Thoughts on Dylan? Any good middle names?

Dylan James
Dylan Joseph
Dylan George
Dylan Oliver

It's in my top 5 boys names! I love it.

But where I live, it would be pronounced weirdly, so we had to veto it :(

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/09/2016 23:33

I like it.

BoboBunnyH0p · 02/09/2016 23:47

Not a fan, I associate it with naughty boys this is because the ones I know are often in trouble. Sorry.

neonrainbow · 02/09/2016 23:49

I like it.

Ornacia · 02/09/2016 23:50

Really like it.

And even more so for a girl.

CafeCremeEtCroissant · 02/09/2016 23:53

Perfect - if you have a Zebede & an Ermantrude Smile

Otherwise it's a no from me - sorry.

dustarr73 · 02/09/2016 23:58

I love it,but could be biased. How about Dylan
Alexander
Joshua
Adam
Or Dylan Thomas.

fassbender · 03/09/2016 00:00

Love it! I work with the most gorgeous little boy called Dylan.

MrsGsnow18 · 03/09/2016 00:05

Dylan Thomas does sound good, but he was a famous poet. ( Thomas was surname I think)

I don't think Dylan is as popular now as it was about ten years ago. I know a few who are aged between 9-14. I used to really like I as a name and it was 'on my list' when I was younger.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 03/09/2016 00:06

I think it's horrible, sorry, but. That's my opinion. It's not a fact, and. It is very popular.
MN suggestions
Dylan Albert
Dylan John
Dylan Joseph
Dylan Sean
Dylan Thomas
Dylan Francis
Dylan Charles
Dylan Oscar

dustarr73 · 03/09/2016 00:12

No it's not as popular, my son who is 21 just got in before popularity struck. There was loads of them round my way.

katemess12 · 03/09/2016 02:12

I don't like it because it reminds me of "dill" which is slang here for a stupid person.

Also, I wouldn't be able to assume the sex of the child based on the name, which, if you're looking for that, is great. But it's not particularly masculine anymore, but it's not feminine either.

BastardBernie · 03/09/2016 02:20

I once had a horse named Dylan. I think it's a nice name

monkeygone · 03/09/2016 02:29

Katerness12, Dylan is definitely a masculine name!

According to the ONS stats out today, there were 16 girls named Dylan last year and 1903 boys named Dylan. It is clearly a very uncommon name for girls, and a pretty common and traditional name for boys.

Ditsy4 · 03/09/2016 03:08

Love it have a son called it and have taught several. Never heard it shortened.
Dylan Alexander goes well depending on surname. Don't forget to check initials.

happymumof4crazykids · 03/09/2016 04:33

My 2nd DS is Dylan Rhys I love the name and a name does not make a child naughty I've never heard such rubbish!

Strokethefurrywall · 03/09/2016 04:52

I love Dylan but would only have used it for a girl. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear!

Great welsh name!

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 03/09/2016 05:00

Love it but couldn't use as its my FIL's dog's name. I don't think it's a 'dog name', just that he's used a 'people name' for his dog.

LadyB49 · 03/09/2016 05:43

I don't like it, perhaps because of some of the Dylans that I know. Sorry.

LottieDoubtie · 03/09/2016 07:09

It has a naughty boy association for me too- and that is based on the ones I've met. Of course that is entirely anecdotal and yours may be entirely different.

babyblabber · 03/09/2016 07:22

I think it's lovely. Quite popular about 5 years ago in Ireland.

GinIsIn · 03/09/2016 07:25

Ok seriously - you CAN'T go for Dylan Thomas!! Look him up! He was famous as much for scandal, drinking and being outrageous as for being a writer.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/09/2016 07:35

I have a Dylan Jett.

alphabook · 03/09/2016 07:38

Love the name Dylan, it's my favourite boys name.
