NAME GAME TO HELP US ELIMINATE (please!)

Only a bit left until birth and DH has scrapped our potential names for a daughter. He has gone off Tilly, still likes Luna but I worry about teasing and Alice is too drippy for us both. So, in a desperate bid we've spent today searching for a name and I have a list of Billie-Rose, Martha, Polly (maybe), Liza (maybe), Ada, Nora, Bess, Minnie (maybe), Tess, Ida, Vivian, Elise and Lila.

My DH likes Winnie, Mabel, Edie, Marie, Mae and Faye. So, we would like for you to choose your two favourite names from our lists and please give us your reasons. We will go over the most popular and put them together. We don't want a very popular name but want something to go well with the other kids.
For boys, we can both agree that a son will be named Milo, Seth, Kerr, Remy, Ace, Leo or Cole. For middle names, we like Usain (yes, after Bolt) and King (after Nat King Cole).

Please help! I don't want to refer to her as Baby for the first weeks of her life and I would like the other kids to have a name to call her by.

Lo x

So, Tess, Faye and Marie are doing quite well. Would like to announce to all that Minnie is officially off the list.
So you have: Billie-Rose, Martha, Polly (maybe), Liza (maybe), Ada, Nora, Bess, Minnie (maybe), Tess, Ida, Vivian, Elise and Lila
DH List: Winnie, Mabel, Edie, Marie, Mae and Faye

It wouldn't matter what you added to Billie, it's a no for me.

thedragonflyinn · 19/08/2016 21:26

Your list : Elise and Lila
DH list : Faye

All very pretty names.

Please don't use Billie, it's terrible!

LoraLoves · 19/08/2016 21:26

Thank you Raines!!!!!
Remy seems more gender neutral too us but we do like your Leo appreciation! Tbh Mary is a name we both like and have considered quite a bit but we have known too many horrible Mary's to like it. Not very keen on Elizabeth or Margaret

Glad people are liking Elise and Lila. I think Elise particularly is quite nice with my other daughter's names.

Marie would seem an obvious choice then if you quite like Mary?

Marie is lovely

LoraLoves · 19/08/2016 21:31

I feel like Marie may be a tad more dated and more of a Jennifer Marie or Emma Marie type name. DH on the other hand adores it and would like to name a daughter Marie-Claire or Marie-Rose. I can't wrap my head round it as I had a group of friends in high school who had the same middle name, Marie!

From your list I like Vivienne, prefer this spelling, it means Life.
I also like Elise, I love Beethovens for Elise.

From his list, not that keen, if pushed Edie as I like the Cult song.

Do not understand if you both like Remy why you are not using that for a girl. Or Leonie.

Boys list, I like Cole but I love Nate.

LoraLoves · 19/08/2016 21:40

We want to use Remy for a potential boy! I think that Vivian may be off the list just now as we never realised that there were so many different spellings of it! He is wrapping his head round Elise but isn't sure about it's compatibility with her sister's names.

I early like Billie (but I do have one of the male variety) also like Mable from your girls list

strawberrypenguin · 19/08/2016 21:45

Sorry should be really like. Auto correct got to it!

Caldini22 · 19/08/2016 21:46

Love Lila.

For boys really like Remy and also like milo.

MrsHathaway · 19/08/2016 21:48

Bold ing the best and striking through the worst:

Billie-Rose Martha, Polly Liza, Ada, Nora, Bess, Tess, Ida, Elise and Lila.

Winnie, Mabel, Edie, Marie, Mae and Faye.

As a rule I don't go for "nickname on birth certificate" names but there's a busy and fairly combative thread discussing the idea on AIBU at the moment so I won't go into detail Grin

Milo, Seth, Kerr, Remy, Ace, Leo or Cole.

I wanted Ace for pfb when I was very hormonal. DH vetoed and I'm glad he did. It's an easy nickname for any child though!

flumpybear · 19/08/2016 21:52

Remy - for either boy or girl

RiverTam · 19/08/2016 21:56

Hate pretty much everything in your DH's list, awful old fashioned names that went out of fashion for a reason (very popular on MN though!). Edie at a push.

Martha and Elise from your list.

Kerr for a boy.

user1471501988 · 19/08/2016 21:56

For a boy, I like Kerr, and Leo.
From your list, I like, Tess, Vivienne, (Vivian) masculine I believe, and Ida.
From your husbands, I like, Mabel, Edie and Mae, (prefer May).

Ilovewillow · 19/08/2016 21:57

I love Luna! But from the other lists I love Edie, I know an Eadie and she is lovely. I also love Vivian but as someone else said I prefer Vivienne as a spelling.

Boys names are all good but love Seth, I have a Seth and I think it's a cool name!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/08/2016 21:59

Edie is really lovely. I also like Martha and Faye.

I hate your boys' list though, sorry.

LoraLoves · 19/08/2016 22:04

We both quite like Mae at the moment. How does Nancy, Clara and Mae sound to you?

OP posts:
HettyB · 19/08/2016 22:09

Polly/Tess and Mabel.

I like most of both of your lists, with the exception of Mae (it's everywhere) and Billie-Rose (I really don't like hyphenated first names).

HettyB · 19/08/2016 22:11

I know you didn't ask about boys names, but Mill, Seth and Leo are the only ones i like from your list. Seth being a country mile ahead of the others.

MsKite · 19/08/2016 22:12

Martha and Edie

pumpkinpieinmyeye · 19/08/2016 22:13

I love both Edie and Nora, both names would be considered for a new baby girl. How would you pronounce Marie? Very pretty name but I have two family members named this and both are pronounced differently (Marr-ree or Ma-ree)

HappyGirl86 · 19/08/2016 22:19

My middle name is Vivienne and my last name begins with W. I love the name, and people always comment how nice it is.
I really like Mae and Liza- both lovely names!

Sophronia · 19/08/2016 22:40

Martha and Marie

Leo or Seth
