Which do you prefer?

Lawson but I don't really like either sorry.

OSETmum · 16/08/2016 21:49

None sorry.

JinkxMonsoon · 16/08/2016 21:51

I really dislike this trend for surnames-as-forenames, especially when there's no precedent for using a particular surname as a forename. So... neither.

strongswans · 16/08/2016 21:51

Neither sorry, they're surnames not first names.

RusholmeRuffian · 16/08/2016 21:52

Both dreadful, sorry!

squoosh · 16/08/2016 21:53

Lawson. It trips off the tongue easier than Lawton.

MadisonAvenue · 16/08/2016 21:54

Neither, sorry.

squoosh · 16/08/2016 21:54

I'm in Scotland where surnames as first names is an old tradition.

BertrandRussell · 16/08/2016 21:56

Neither. Choose a name.

Ningnang2000 · 16/08/2016 21:57

Sorry but I feel the same about surnames as first names. Not for me but each to their own and all that.

villainousbroodmare · 16/08/2016 21:58

Lawson but I like neither. Can't imagine a chubsy infant or a sparkly little boy called either of those. Maybe, maybe a sixty-eight year old man with large ears and dramatically wiry grey eyebrows. An irascible "Git orf my laaaawn!" sort of fellow.

DramaAlpaca · 16/08/2016 22:05

Of the two, Lawson sounds better.

Jacobbay · 16/08/2016 22:10

As in chancellor Nigel Lawson?

LuckySantangelo1 · 16/08/2016 22:11

Neither, sorry!

MistressoftheYoniverse · 16/08/2016 22:27

Lawson? Lawton?...first names?...explain!

Figgygal · 16/08/2016 22:28

neither.......sorry

fluentinsarcasm · 16/08/2016 22:45

Reeling from the backlash!
I thought Lawson had a grown up, confident ring to it....Doctor Lawson Jones etc
I don't like cute little boys names on grown men.
Boys names hurt my brain, too hard!

I see where you were going but 'round 'ere they don't approve of surnames as first names.

Out there they don't mind so much.

I don’t like cutesy names either but those stray too far in the other direction for me. They seem impersonal.

MissBattleaxe · 16/08/2016 23:15

There are plenty of boys names that aren't cutesy. You don't have to resort to surnames.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 16/08/2016 23:17

We've got Lawtons 175 years back as first names in our family...

MistressoftheYoniverse · 16/08/2016 23:21

Ok..I was shocked...I consulted the family and Lawson won ...hands down...but you could just call him harry Grin

HoratioNightboy · 16/08/2016 23:25

maybe a sixty-eight year old man with large ears and dramatically wiry grey eyebrows.

You do know he was once a chubsy little infant, dont you!

Lawson has a history of being used as a first name, in Scotland at least, and doesn't sound bad at all. I think you should go for it.
